Nice weather this morning. Finishing a morning devotion book with my wife this morning that we've done the last 30 days and it's been a blessing.

Ran 9.34 miles at an overall 7:12 pace in 1:07 in nice 30 degree weather. My achillies started to get sore after about 3 miles. But yesterday's rest really helped. I know if I take a week off it would heal. I'm really struggling with wanting to take time off. I've ran so consistently for so long it's tough. I need God to either heal my leg while I'm running, or give me the strength to take a week off.

Take the week off, man! Take it off! One day rest followed by 9 miles is not injury recovery. If you rupture your achilles, you will regret running.

I think you know how you have to get healed. You just need to do it, man. It takes more discipline to run every day than to take a week off, so your logic does not make sense to me. I'm giving up on giving you my opinion any more, as it is now very repetitious.

Jon - Your advice is great and makes sense. I know intelligence wise it's the right choice. I'm training to help Barry (on the blog) train for SLC and Ogden so I'm trying to hang on till then. I agree I would be frustrated at someone who knows the right choice and doesn't do it.

I know I'm taking a chance, and I will take the time to heal when it's right. I'm sorry it makes you frustrated it's very hard for me to want to quit even though it's the right decision. Don't give up on me :-) You've been a lot of help.

It may kill you psychologially, but even Paul P. had decent results with an elliptical.

Listen to Jon. I'm sure Barry will understand. You are the only one who knows your pain but if you think it may turn for the worse take the time off early. It is better a week now than three months down the road.

Kory, I agree with Jon and Adam. You are much better off taking the time to heal now than paying for it later. You even gave Barry this same advice in the last week yet you don't follow it yourself. There are other ways to keep fit and as you are not training for anything, there is no reason to push it. I agree that Barry should understand this.

Based on what the doctor told you on Monday...why would you even think of running 18 miles today?

From wheakory on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 16:06:27 from 134.50.223.250

Jeff - Your 100% right I need to practice what I preach. I'm really being a hypocrite and I understand the frustration and it's well deserved.

My plan is to start the healing now and do aquaj-ogging starting Monday. With this 18 mile run today got me excited because of how well I did. I didn't struggle at all. This motivates me to really heal and train again.
