I decided to run at the gym today, because the wind was blowing up to 30 mph and very slick.  I didn't want to risk falling on an already injured body.  I ran 6.23 miles in 41 mintues on the treadmill at Gold's Gym.  My left inner thigh muscle right next to the groin is really sore, along with my left knee which had sharp pains in it during the run.  I believe the knee is just from soreness from the fall on Monday.  My body is definitely responding that maybe I shouldn't run at all anymore.   No problem I have a positive attitude and there's other things in life as far as fitness goods that I can do if I have to take a break from running.

I did do 1 mile at a 5:40 pace then over 2 minutes at a 4:56 pace.  This probably wasn't the best on the knee or thigh, but I figured if I get worse so what and it might be God's way of shutting me down.

Kory, I ran outside today and you made the correct choice. The conditions were horrible and I should have made it a treadmill day.

Thanks for given me confidence in my decision, because I felt guility not running outside. Although with my body the way it is right now, one bad step could make matters worse.

Dang another injury. How are the ribs feeling from the turkey bowl?

From Scott Zincone on Wed, Jan 07, 2009 at 13:51:01

Kory before giving up running all together, just back off some. A little less and a little slower is better than none at all. Give your body a chance to heal while still maintaining fitness. The joy of running will find its way back to you when you are not hurting all the time. I promise.

Scott - Thanks, your right my plan is to back-off, but if I have to quit I'm okay with that. Because I have a positive attitude on other things I can do in life. Thanks for the advice.

huans32 - The ribs still hurt a bit when I lean over, or when I do sit-ups. But it's not an extreme pain like before, only a dull pain. These last few months as far as being injury prone is awful, but life goes on.

I'd wait for your doctor's appointment to make any decisions for 2009. Meanwhile, don't do anything drastic that might cause long-term damage. Good to see you keeping the faith!
