Nice morning sunny so a singlet and shorts was a great choice.  My legs were dead for the first 4 miles and I was tired and fatigued.  I realized that I didn't drink hardly any water, or any good quantity of fluid over the last two days.  I think that's why I felt so sluggish.  Although I did drink a 52 oz decaf diet soda yesterday :-) at least it didn't have caffeine but of course the carbonation is not good for you.

After the 4 miles I felt better for the last 7.  I ran 11.4 miles at an easy 7:22 pace in 1:24.  I too it easy which is probably what I will do all week.  I still had a little foot pain and the knee is still bothering me.  I'm  not going to say anymore about that because it's frustrating, but  I feel terrible about this going into the relay.

Just take it easy this week and do easy miles. It will come around...

From Jon on Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 13:26:59

If you are that worried, you could even take a day or two very, very easy (or completely off) right before the race. Your mileage has been outstanding for a long time and your fitness won't suffer noticeably. Like they say, it is much better to be slightly undertrained and healthy than overtrained and injured. I know I am planning only one very short run for Thursday, and I'm not injured. Taking Thursday off (and maybe Wednesday, too) might be just what the doctor ordered. Have confidence in your past training and treat this as a taper.

Jon - thanks for your positive advice, and you to Cody.

I do feel I'll be okay I just want to go into it on top. The foot isn't that bad now and I bet will be fine by the end of the day with no pain and back to normal. The knee I can deal with, because I really only feel it after a run, or if I run uphill. It really didn't bother me in Saturday's race and over half of it was uphill. I need to be positive and confident and I'll be okay.

From Jon on Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 13:41:15

Yeah, we know you will be fine. Positive, confident, and rested would be the perfect combination...

I am planning on leaving IF around 9am so I could be to Poky by 10am. I might have another passenger as well...would you be able to drive as I believe your truck has more passenger room?

From wheakory on Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 18:04:18

That would be fine... we can leave your truck parked in my drive-way. Are you planning on getting back home in a hurry after the race?

From Paul Ivory on Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 19:32:31

Kory, I have been away from the computer for a few days. Nice race last Saturday!! You are awesome. Best wishes as you take care of the knee, be careful. Paul

Yes Chio is one of my teammates. He is a stud. He was freshman of the year for WAC cross country last year. I almost got him on our WBR team but he was already on a team. His team is pretty good.

As far as how you are feeling right now, I totally agree with Jon, take a couple of days off. It won't effect your races at the relay at all. Good luck.
