It was a warm morning at 43 degrees with a 16 mph wind.  I was warm by the second mile, because I really over-dressed.  That's okay the more I sweat the more calories burned.  I ran 8.32 miles at an overall 7:29 pace in 1:02.  I felt crappy on the whole run.  My  abductor/groin/thigh whatever hurt (I know where it hurts but not really the root of the problem yet).  My knee had sharp pains at times (which was do to the fall on Monday, because it hurts right on the cuts and bruises).  My foot really didn't hurt, but it's still not a 100% either, it does have some dull pain to the touch.

My body just didn't want to run even with 9 hours of sleep the last two nights.  I did rub some MYO MED on my inner thigh last night.  My body is basically falling apart limb by limb :-).  That's okay it will work itself out and you have to have patience and a good attitude.

I don't need to race to make me happy.  I just like staying fit, and I can do other exercises if I can't run.  Life is too short to worry about falling behind in your training or not being ready for a race.  I'll we need to do each day when we wake up is give our thoughts and desires to the Lord and the day will come out okay.     I would rather have the Lord be the first thought in the day than running.  I can't take my accomplishments with me, but I can take God's word everywhere.

I probably won't run Saturday or Sunday to give the body some needed rest.  It's just to broken down to train.  But like I said that's okay.  Time/patience has it's way of bringing success back.

 Lunch

 Sit-ups and Push-ups.

Hi Kory, This is a mentally AND physically tough time to train in general, much less on top of injuries the weather wrought. You sound pretty beaten down by recent running. I think it's amazing anyone keeps the spirit to run, much less train, in this weather! Wishing you quick healing to bring you back to whatever you're ready to run (or race).

You hit the nail on the head, Kory. We don't need racing to stay happy. I am with you. I just want to be able to run for me. For fitness and my personal goals. I know I am never going to be an elite or heck even win a race. But the way I figure, if I can lace up my sneaks and get in a 2 or 3 mile run because I WANT TO, not because some training plan WANTS me to, then it was a good day.

Keep the faith. Stay strong, you're in my prayers. We'll get through this junky winter time. You'd be surprised how well some people can run/race on just 30-40 miles a week. Get some sleep. Drink some OJ, and enjoy your time off.

Cheers.

Benn

Benn - As always you have great advice and your a great cyber friend. You have an excellent outlook on life and have a way of delighting people and changing their attitudes. We have the right approach by running to stay fit and not run to race.
