Another 6.6 miles on the Elliptical this morning in over an hour at Gold's Gym.  At least I'm on the second floor and can either look outside or watch TV display on the Elliptical.  The whole front of Gold's Gym is glass so you can see the outside wherever your at in the building.  I'd rather talk about building structures than my running theses days.  I do feel I'm keeping the fitness going, but I find it very hard to drag myself to the gym and do anything.  But I'm not that type of person to just give up.

Question:  Would you count your shoe miles on the Elliptical?  Since, "at least I won't think"  the Elliptical doesn't wear down your shoes.  It shouldn't cause any surface wear.

Got to work and did sit-ups and push-ups.  I can't believe how many I'm doing a day now.

Lunch:

Did 400 sit-ups and 100 push-ups.  It seems like I'm doing these all day long just to keep the fitness.

You know, I've never thought about that. I wear different shoes to the gym so I don't put the wear on my good running shoes. If I'm on the treadmill, I wear my running shoes, but anything else, I wear my "GYM" shoes.

Hope the foot starts to heel up soon. I've done some aqua jogging before and found it to be a pretty good workout. Like you said hard to be excited about running when you are injured or it hurts to run, better to get healed up and feel refreshed is my opinion.

I only use running shoes for running. I throw on some type of cross-training shoe for weights or elliptical. Maybe just grab a pair with a ton of mileage on them and you should be ok (unless they cause any pain of course).

I'll pray for wisdom and patience in your efforts towards recovery. Hope you get healthy soon.

Hey Kory. How is the foot feeling? Bummer that you have to take time off running, but xtraining can be fun. You bought that bike last year right? Maybe you can be a Biking machine like me :-D haha.

1. I wouldn't think it would wear the shoe treads down, though I'd be more concerned about wearing down the framing of the shoe, as it is usually the actual form of the shoe that blows out before the treads are long gone.

2. Take your time and enjoy the time off. Cross training will work wonders and make you stronger.

3. I hear you about the gym. It's just not the same as going out on the open roads.

4. You're in my prayers! Best of luck and a speedy recovery, man!

Dustin - Thanks! Your right it's better to be totally healed/refreshed. If not it will come back again. It's nice to see you hitting the miles. I hope you do well in Ogden.

Rockness - Thanks. I really need the prayers. This has been so hard and depressing. But I rely on God to give me the strength and faith to know that things happen for a reason. Patience is God's timing and not ours and that's how I need to look at it.

Ben - The foot doesn't hurt right now. But I haven't ran on it since last Saturday. There are times I can still feel some soreness, but not pain if that makes sense. I know it's not healed yet. I might try and run 20 minutes on Saturday.

I do have the bike and plan to get it out and use it. But were still getting snow storms and it was only 17 degrees this morning.
