i cant stand that elliptical either. it hurts my knees for some reason, not a natural motion. can you tell me how to water run? I don't really get it- has to be over five feet? but not over your head right? and I hate water as I get cold so fast. sigh.... glad I have someone to commiserate with.

redrooster - Well they say you can do it in swallow area but then you would be using surface contact which defeats the purpose of trying to not use the injured area.

In a deep area you use a water belt to keep you a float then you would just run your normal stride like you would if you were jogging outside. You can even do tempos and fartlek's. You can do it in place, or lean and forward and move around.

Now I haven't done it yet, but this is what I read. I guess we will heal together.

Kory, thanks for the info, may give it a try, I ran two miles today and think I am already aggravating that tendon again. I may just call it quits for the season, I think this thing is going to take a long time to heal properly, as in a month or two of no running. What a bummer. In meantime I will just work on stretching/strengthening exercises and stay fit riding my bike to work. Hope yours goes better!! Scott

It's very tough. When you think you feel like your recovering you run two or three days in a row, and the pain comes back. I haven't ran since Saturday. I thought I would try and run two miles this Saturday and take Sunday off then see how I feel Monday. But like you this could take months. Paul gave me good advice that you can't look at this as an one week fix, but the overall picture could be months, and that's right for your body.

Like you I'm struggling trying to stay off my feet. It's very hard but I have to look deep down inside each day and know if I run than that's another lost recovery day. Try doing the Aqua-jogging. Do you think riding your bike to work is irritating it has well?

I am with you exactly, I was all excited today to be cleared to do some running, the tendon felt good, then it started hurting a bit after I ran. I am not sure biking is good for it either. The other problem is a medial shin splint which, again, felt better after two + weeks off, then started to hurt a bit again. Paul is right of course, gotta look at the big picture, I will look into the aqua running, in the meantime I am just going to stretch and strengthen, cross train, and ease back in when I am ready. I hope you get back to full strength soon, of course you are in a whole different league than me as a real competitive runner, I am way past my prime but hope I have a few good years in me once I get this leg back to normal!!
