Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

Say what???!?! 40 miles on a treadmill? You win the lifetime achievement award for masochism!

Good luck on the upcoming 100 miler.

I almost have to be "mechanical" at the target race distance...hopefully, the joy comes on race day!

Wow! You are awesome!!

Amazing volume and training. Its been a pleasure following along as you train for this 100.

under 8 minute pace for 40 miles on a TM... in the middle of the week... and just continuing on the next day - That is inspiring - I'm impressed.

Thanks, gentlemen. Very pleased my body is holding up because the high mileage is addictive!

Feeling confident about my second 100 miler on October 4, the Arkansas Traveler.

Why a diet coke? I would think your body could use the sugar and calories from a real coke.

The pros like flat coke during races. I just like diet coke.
