Went to the the River Park Trail at 98th at 5:15 to run with Misty, Charity and Danielle.  Danielle hosed me so I ran by myself. I started going north and made it just over a half mile when I came upon a couple skunks. I slowed down thinking they would run off in the brush but the closer I got the more the started posturing to spray me. I stopped when I saw them lift their tails and turned around and ran as I heard them spray. haha  They missed me this time! thank goodness so I went south on the trail till it hit the neighborhood in Parkway Palisades. I went up into the neighborhood and then back to the trail to where I parked. I saw a Pelican close to 104th so. in the Jordan river. It was pretty cool. Dont see that too often!

Wow! Skunks, pelicans...What an eventful day.

It started out stinky and turned out cool. I felt like crap from the get go. I had to run all those cadbury eggs out of my system. haha

How are you feeling?

From Michelle N. on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 09:33:18 from 75.162.225.71

I'm feeling grrrreat! Well, other than the fact that I feel like I've gained 25 pounds. Ughh! Seriously, I need to get my eating under control again.

Are you still doing Boston?

From Bec on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 09:50:08 from 67.177.35.60

That could have been a very stinky situation.

From walter on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 09:56:07 from 76.27.15.208

No doubt Bec, it would rather fight then leave. I have been sprayed by a skunk before full on though on Thanksgiving day when I was a kid. I was in Lehi helping my cousin with mink traps he had set and a skunk got in one of them and we had to release it. so he tried grabbing the skunk while i opened the trap and it sprayed both of us pretty bad. Our parents made us eat our Thanksgiving dinner in the garage! That was after bathing in tomato juice which by the way didnt help. haha

No way! Great story. I can't even imagine how bad you guys stunk. I think I would start crying if I even saw a skunk.

Way Bec! I know, it wasnt my best Thanksgiving dinner but at least I got to eat right?

From Michelle N. on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 13:11:46 from 75.162.225.71

Sorry, little delay of conversation:) Yes, I am planning on Boston if my leg will keep cooperating. I am going to Boston no matter what but I haven't run in 1 1/2 weeks though and it is weird. Oh well, I'm not going to break any records. It's all about the experience.

From Teena on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 15:07:10 from 67.177.20.13

Walter ... if you would have got sprayed would we have had to bury you up to your shoulders, or put ketchup all over you ... what do they do for that now-a-days?

From walter on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 19:05:50 from 76.27.15.208

Teena, I think those are all wise tales. Trust me, There isnt anything in the world to get that smell off of you.

Michelle, good for you for going out there. I hope it doesnt enable you for a long period of time. It is about the experience. Its a great time.

Hi! I'm from New York. I was a avid runner throughout high school and got to college and hated their training program. I have been running on and off since, but have slacked off the last few weeks. Now I am determined to get back into racing shape.

From walter on Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 21:10:27 from 205.124.145.254

Jull, well this should help you out with training and keeping your goals in site. It definitely helps me with my mileage every week. Its good to compare yourself to others and feel free to ask questions. we all have an opinion haha. good luck
