Went down to the parktrail at 98th and ran with the BBK group. Met up with Michelle, Rachelle, Kelli, Lisa, and whoever the heck was there in the dark and did a 3 mile warm up then I did 2x3 mile marathon tempo paced runs. The first tempo was actually slower than marathon. About a 6:35 pace. My IT band was hurting this morning when I was running slower. When I sped up it was better for me. Made it 10.25 miles

I cant wait to hear from everyone Michelle!

It was pretty much the most awesome thing ever! A little disappointed with my legs cramping so early but all in all, it was amazing! Hopefully I will be ready to roll on Tuesday. I ran a little last night and it felt good but I'm nowhere near ready for normal running.

I havnt had a positive Boston race as my legs always tighten on the Newton hills. I think with all the hill training we did this year I would have fared pretty good. I wished I could run that course for training.

Well done. It was a nice run this morning. Isn't it weird how changing your pace can make such a difference.

Always a pleasure to live vicariously through your runs. Did you get in Ogden?

From Michelle N. on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 10:04:34 from 75.162.252.159

I think I was good with uphill training but didn't have near enough downhill. Generally, I LOVE downhill and do very well with it but it beat my legs up pretty bad. I actually loved the first couple uphills in Newton because it didn't hurt so much but by Heartbreak, I was pretty spent.

Shelly, did you see me on the ground after the warmup? I wanted to go home at that point. I was in a lot of pain and usually i will call it quits, but when we did our tempo run it quit hurting. go figure.

Paul, yeah im in Ogden by the skin of my teeth. It sucks because at the finish line last year one of the officials congratulated me when I came in and assured me that the top 10 runners got in automatically and I used that as my excuse for waiting to enter the race.

Michelle, There was a bit of downhill at the start it always gives you a sense of feeling too good and taking off fast. Ryan Hall led the pack to a record breaking pace for the first half. Then the wind picked up and kicked their butt.

From Michelle N. on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 10:13:43 from 75.162.252.159

We actually started slow but I just think my quads weren't prepared for nearly that much down. I wish I could say it was because I started too fast but...nope! Probably not enough running the last few weeks.

From walter on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 10:45:57 from 76.27.15.208

Yeah, its still hard to run that. Im not good at marathons that go up and down several times.

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 11:06:01 from 67.42.27.114

Walter,

It always bugs me that these race directors don't allow better runners like you to wait and see if you are injured before insisting on taking your money to register.

From walter on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 11:26:39 from 76.27.15.208

I was surprised I didnt get any credit for St. George marathon either. I came in top 5 in my age group and 18th overall. Im in that invisible category right now. Fast enough to be close to the main pack but not credited for it. haha

Nice run this morning!! Its a little refreshing to hear that you're human and get some aches and pains :) Usually pushing faster hurts my IT more than going slow, but then again I've never moved as fast as you do :)

From walter on Fri, Apr 24, 2009 at 00:09:44 from 76.27.15.208

Rachel, its been a while since ive had nagging pain like that. I usually will just call it quits for the day. I didnt want you guys putting negative things on my blog. I know, you wouldnt. right? you wouldnt?
