It was another interesting day in Eden today! I took James up to the start of the 30k race and it started to rain pretty hard right at the start.  I told James that I wanted to run a 5:45-5:50 pace and he thought that he could do it. We started our first mile in 6:10. Then the second mile we hit a 5:39 to bring it closer to a 5:50 pace. James started to feel horrible from a IT band or something and couldnt go on . So I found myself all alone. I tried to keep that 5:50 pace and this is how it went. 1: 6:10, 2: 5:39, 3: 5:45, 4: 5:52, 5: 5:50, 6: 5:55, 7: 6:04, 8: 6:06, 9: 5:56, 10: 5:58, 11:5:47, 12: 5:54, 13: 5:56, 14: 5:57, 15: 6:11, 16:6:12, 17: 6:09, 18: 6:18, .6: 3:58.  There was a head wind blowing the entire way in both directions. I couldnt believe it but thats the way it went.  I held on to win it and complete the 5 race series with an overall win. They told me its a course record but I believe Paul ran a faster 30k a few years ago. They may have changed the course so Ill take it! Sorry Paul win some lose some. lol

Are you serious Walter???

MAN ALIVE!!! You are unhuman!!!

That is fantastic. A huge huge HUGE congratulations.

You're amazing!

From Jon on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 17:00:21 from 75.169.158.51

Congrats on the win! Well deserved- you are running great right now. Enjoy your prize money.

Who finished 2nd and 3rd? How close was Tim?

By the way, Paul ran 1:45 in 2007, and Ashbaker was 1:45 and Sasha was 1:48. So no course record unless they changed the course.

From walter on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 17:39:12 from 76.27.15.208

Teena, thanks! That is the hardest series. Your the next to be crushing those pr's.

http://lyman.fastrunningblog.com/

Jon, yeah I figured it wasnt the fastest course time. Tim took second and I cant remember the guys name to take 3rd.

From Kelli on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 17:59:59 from 71.219.83.91

ROCK STAR WALTER!

From Bec on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 18:45:27 from 67.177.35.60

Course record, yee-haw!! Sounds like ideal running conditions...Eden knew you were coming, so they sent in the storm. Nothing can stop you, or slow you down!

From allie on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 19:07:51 from 208.110.151.113

From cody on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 20:11:59 from 67.161.250.22

Sweet race walter! You are really kicking it up a notch. That is a sweet time on that nasty course.

From paul on Sat, Apr 25, 2009 at 20:38:12 from 75.162.111.52

Oh well, easy come, easy go. Good race man.

From Shelly on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 00:18:20 from 76.27.55.22

WOW! Way to go! You are amazing! Congrats.

From Walter on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 00:33:50 from 76.27.15.208

Kelli, Thanks. Thats all

Bec, no doubt what the heck? Everytime I went boating up there the weather was awesome.

Allie, it was definitely 5 of the hardest races ive run. Very well organized though! I agree with the name Eden. I too have a few good names that I thought of today as I ran with hail pelting my face for 3 straight miles. lol

Rachel, thanks as usual.

Cody, I really thought I could maintain a 5:50 pace, but the wind was relentless in the fact that there wasnt a tail wind. Fun to do the full series though and good to have that one out of the way.

Paul, They mustve changed the coures because 1:51 is a 6 minute mile even and I know you kicked some butt the year you did it.

Lori, it was good meeting you today, your a great gal! Your not old at all though! lol keep up the good work and ill watch you on here.

Shelly, thanks and Ill see you on the trail.

From Burt on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 01:49:41 from 98.167.151.26

Way to get that series overall win. I knew you could do it. I was rooting for you all along.

From james on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 02:40:48 from 67.172.226.141

Indeed it was tough conditions today. Very impressive run. I think you've got a 5 minute PR in you in Ogden, but will be able to drop more time than that later in the year.

From krashless on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 03:15:21 from 75.169.22.95

Nice job. Thanks for the cement it looks great.

From MichelleL on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 12:40:01 from 67.41.191.143

Great job Walter. You have been running so strong. I am guessing you are doing the Ogden marathon?

From Smooth on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 12:47:16 from 71.36.71.239

CONGRATS on the HUGE WIN!!! You're AWESOME! and FUNNY!

From Walter on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 14:42:29 from 76.27.15.208

Burt, so I had a silent fan huh? Thanks.

James, Thanks for pushing the pace for me. I was a bit tired at the first but warmed up quick and you got me in a great rythm.

Chris, your welcome! We tacked your raingutter up temporarily so the roof woundnt leave water marks. Hope you enjoy it!

Michelle, Yes I am doing Ogden marathon and have the first 18 miles memorized.

Smooth, Thanks. I think your funny too!

From Burt on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 14:48:37 from 98.167.151.26

I'm like Peter on the Brady Bunch when Bobby and Greg were having a pull-up contest.

From Walter on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 14:51:26 from 76.27.15.208

haha I hope Im Greg!

From Burt on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 15:09:34 from 98.167.151.26

If memory serves, Greg lost. But Peter told both of them he was rooting for them.

From Walter on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 15:10:59 from 76.27.15.208

I like the episode when Greg realizes Marsha isnt his real sister. lol

From maurine on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 15:54:35 from 97.117.57.193

Congratulations on both the race and series win in tough conditions. Hopefully they put in a request for better weather for us when we run Ogden.

My first marathon was Ogden 2004 and I loved the hail and snow the first 7 miles (not).

From Walter on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 22:52:44 from 76.27.15.208

Thanks Maurine, it is like Lori Metcalf explained a very difficult race series.

From tarzan on Sun, Apr 26, 2009 at 23:05:38 from 97.117.57.193

Yeah - I've done every race in the series at one time or another - so know it well.

From RivertonPaul on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 11:46:44 from 67.42.27.114

Belated congrats.

From Walter on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 12:53:18 from 76.27.15.208

Maurine, yes its a rough one.

Paul, thanks you should try it next year, it kicks your butt into shape!

From jtshad on Fri, May 01, 2009 at 18:19:16 from 204.134.132.225

Walter, just saw the result, congrats on the win and the series win...you are running awesome right now!

What is your next race? Are you doing Ogden (full or half, I remember you saying you ran into issues with the RD as I did)?
