Went to the Legacy Bridge with Danielle and Dan who dropped us off at the start. No stress at all. I didnt see Kelli And Rachel before the race so I concentrated on helping Danielle. The start was extremely slow and we hit a 8:30 mile for the first and then the crowd thinned out enough to get going. We started hitting 7:30's and 7:15s for up to the 4th mile. They changed the course a bit so you miss the big steep hill coming down.  At the turn around I concentrated on finding Kelli and Rachel. They werent ahead of me. After a 1/4 mile I found Kelli behind me. She caught us by mile 6 I believe and was looking great. She had started late and was going off her chip time. At mile 7 Danielle started to fade a bit and I was worried I was being to hard on her. So I told her Id run for 2 miles hard and turn around and come back and get her for the last 3 miles. I did a 5:15 pace for mile 8-9. I caught up to Kelli and she was slowing down a bit. I helped push her pace back up and help her out with her spirits. I saw Rachel behind Danielle when I did a potty break and ran with her a bit and by the time I was at 10 and turned around to come back to Danielle, she had passed her and had  pretty good lead.  I found Danielle and she was exhausted. I tried cheering her up and I really pushed her hard because she slowed down quite a bit. We caught Rachel and passed her but were just ahead of her.  Then came an incline hill that crippled her and she had to walk. After the hill, I pushed Danielle and she brought her last mile and a half to a really good pace. I saw that we wouldnt make a 1:40 so I just kept pushing her. I had her at a 7 minute pace on the last half mile and we cruised into a 1:43 time. Very good weather conditions and good friends and fun!

AND TODAY IS WALTER'S BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Walter, THANKS!!! You rock. Miles 8-9 are always the hardest for me, but I know if I can push through them I will be fine. You arrived at the perfect moment!

It sounds like a great race. What do you have next on your calendar?

Happy birthday Walter!!! I had no idea, you sneaky little fiend! Who gets up at 4:30 the morning of their birtday? You overachiever you :) Thanks so much for the encouragement and push...I really needed it! I didn't think I was going to make 1:40 at ALL until you told me I was on track and doing great. I needed a friendly face those last 2 miles to push me -well, the back of your head is actually better for me, because then I can try to catch you :) Nice job coaching us all! Did you get your 20 in today running back and forth?

From walter on Sat, Apr 18, 2009 at 23:56:29 from 76.27.15.208

Burt, Thanks so much, Danielle is my gal pal ive run with for 6 or so years.

Kelli, Im glad I could push all three of you in the same race. Bizarre as it was, it worked out good for all three of you. I was expecting the pink outfit but you can run just as good as the pink outfit, maybe better. Im glad I could push you today.

cstevenson, Im running a very important race next week its a series race which I started back in February. Its a 30k race and the final race that I am winning the series in with only 1 minute and 25 seconds. Then Im planning on the Ogden Marathon in May.

Rachel, I run therefore I am! I had so much fun making you sweat today! How fun to be able to push Danielle, Kelli, then yourself. Boy that hill at the end was brutal huh?

Happy birthday, and way to help your friends! We need an East-coast Walter over here!

From Nancy on Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 09:18:50 from 76.27.11.127

Walter you are so nice to help everyone out in the race.

From walter on Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 09:51:26 from 76.27.15.208

Lucia, I would love to live out there on the east coast.

Nancy, I had a blast running with all three of them. I was singing the song Kung fu fighting while I was running. Danielle was laughing at me wondering how I could sing while pushing her tempo 15-20 seconds harder than she was used to. haha

From walter on Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 14:30:17 from 76.27.15.208

Teena, im sorry! I really actually hate my birthday. I did have fun yesterday wiring my basement haha. I did go out to dinner and then miniature golf. Very eventful.

Kelli, you had an ipod on and had to turn it down just to hear me! I had a blast doing that by the way did I say that enough? See ya tuesday

Gratz on the race with running with friends. Seem to be the best races if you ask me. And happy Bday.

From walter on Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 16:58:09 from 76.27.15.208

Thanks Mark. It felt like it went quicker than if I was running it by myself.
