Well, this was a good one for me. I went into not dwelling on it but feeling confident w/ training and being comfortable w/ the course. I was originally shooting for 3:30:00, but a few things happened yesterday that changed that. 1) I decided to go w/ some lighter shoes that I had never run very long in, and 2) a few people convinced me that I was a lot closer to the 3:1x:00s than I thought. So I just went out according to the feel of the body and went w/ that the entire race. It's not that the stars aligned, but it was a better than average day. Here are my splits:

1--8:23

2--8:09

3--8:10

4--7:28

5--7:44

6--7:33

7--7:27

8--8:44 Veyo hill.

9--7:59

10--7:47

11--8:00

12--7:52

13--7:36

14--7:58

15--7:21

16--7:15

17--7:19

18--7:33

19--7:42

20--7:45

21--7:01 Lots of decline.

22--7:33

23--7:27

24--7:12

25--7:55

26--7:45

.2--1:52 (7:15)

I always wondered how people hit those later miles hard. Today, I just never really lost it. I enjoyed virtually every minute of the race. I feel a lot more confident that I have a 3:10:00 in me somewhere. Just need a good year of training to dig it out. Thanks to Cass and Tanner, Dallen and Nate, Some lady from Atlanta, Scott Hughes, and The Beast for the great company.

Thanks, Jeff. Are we going to do this BQ thing together next year, or what? Who knows what you'll be up to w/ all your exciting life events.

Very impressive splits! You ran a smart race my friend. Very happy you had a great day. You worked your butt off and it's paying off, SWEET!!

From The Beast on Sun, Oct 04, 2009 at 02:09:37 from 74.211.17.81

Good job Coach! I wished I could have stayed with you longer because you got me going again. I probably would have walked the rest of way without your help.

From Holt on Sun, Oct 04, 2009 at 11:53:39 from 75.169.74.94

Way to believe in yourself! When you were asking me what I thought you could do, I could tell you wanted and knew that a big PR was coming! It is so much more fun when you are able to finish it off like that. Well, take a few well deserved weeks off now, and then we'll go hit the trail!

Way to run and have a good day out on the course. You've trained hard and it paid off.

Thanks everyone for the support. It's was a great experience to see everyone out there participating one way or another--volunteers, runners, etc. Running is a real community builder.

That is so awesome! I really wanted to stay with you and finish but the stupid cramps hit me and that is all she wrote. I am so impressed, you looked very strong when we were running together.....you rocked it...congrats! When we were talking I as feeling like 3:25-3:30 were in the bag and you proved that to be correct.
