Legs and back plus abs. Last time I did this workout my knees hurt for two weeks, so I did not go deep in any of the squats or lunges. This helped.

An evening 6. Temps here have been unseasonably cool. This is obviously fine for me...

The run felt fine. AP was just above 9 mm. Most of the time out of sheer impatience I run progressively faster, but I didn't have the drive today. Just a ho hum run.

It is unprecedented to be able to run at 5 pm during July without wanting to die. Yet I did just that. It was a fine run, again unremarkable. Pace was 8:47 avg.

Chest and back plus abs. Because of registration yesterday, I have to run and p90x some day this week. Today would have been perfect, but Chuck had registration. Alas. Maybe Saturday will be better.

Four super easy miles in the dark. By the time I warmed up and started feeling feisty, my run was almost over. AP was slow (9:22) but I had no need for speed.

Shoulders and arms plus abs. I did the bonus round this time around, but I skipped some of the stretching at the end.

It was warmer than I was expecting, but still pretty nice. Sunny, though. I needed a little more time to warm up, but felt good once I was part way through mile 2. Sort of a fast finish, with the last mile at 8:27 to counteract the first mile, which was 9:30. AP was 9 mm on the dot.

Chest, shoulder, triceps plus abs. Two more weeks of p90x. I'm ready to get back to full time running, but I need a fall goal. Probably it will be to pr in the 5k. And really just to stay consistent. The fall is the busiest time for us.

I went to the doctor today. She was impressed by my resting heart rate.

The weather was awesome for this run. I ran sans watch, which was nice. I also ran sans corrective lenses. That was not so nice. I didn't realize how blind I really am.

I ran 4 pm miles. I decided to run on the treadmill instead of trying to navigate the dark streets without my contacts again.

I got some awesome new lightweight shoes, and today was the maiden voyage. I'm thinking they will be my sometimes shoes, probably for racing. I was a little nervous because I have over pronation issues, but for today at least they felt pretty darn good.

Ran later in the afternoon. It was hot and sunny, but with a breeze that kept me feeling okay. Ran 2 miles at just under 9 min pace, then sped up a little. Just really wanted to do 3 sorta tempo miles, so I stopped at 5 miles (next 3 were 8:29, 8:18, 8:08) to stretch a little and reset my body for easy running. Then my body decided it didn't want to slow down, so I stopped fighting it and just went with the flow. Last two were 8:31 and 8:19.

All in all it was a good run.

One more week of p90x hybrid, then we'll see what happens. I already plugged all my night duties in my calendar, and mine plus Chuck's equals a busy fall. It might be convenient to be able to fall back on some of the p90x workouts so I have another option besides the treadmill for late nights or nights when I can't leave the house because I'm alone with the kids.

Chest, shoulders and triceps. Then abs. This is my last official time doing this one.

Today was the first day of school. Two kids cried (that I know about). And I'm an admin in a high school.

Ran without a watch today. Temps were high, but humidity wasn't. It was fine, but I had to stop and use the bathroom at Family Video.

Back and biceps. This is probably my last official p90x workout. I was faithful the first two months, and did most of the strength training for the last month. I could probably total it up for real, but I think I did a bit over 75% of the workouts. So is that a D? Did I graduate? I bet Burt says no.

I did not like how the new shoes felt on the treadmill. But maybe I just didn't like the treadmill. I forced myself to do these after a long day (fall sports kickoff night).

5 miles at dusk. Wasn't too cool to start out, but was fine once the sun was down. My pace reflects that with a nice fast finish. Average pace 8:42.

Core workout. Not much time for blogging, thus the 3 posts today. I'll have to catch up on the weekend.

3 quick treadmill miles before bed. Glad I got them in. I almost skipped running altogether. Busy week, but I should be okay every day but Friday. If I don't run before work, I might not have time. But whether I'll drag myself out of bed or not...

I did the core workout again.  I like that workout.  I feel like I might have already said that on Tuesday.

A seven mile run that was sweltering for the first four miles. Then I stopped to stretch and convince myself to keep with my original route plan and pray for rain. Then it did rain during what is always the worst mile of this particular route (no shade whatsoever. So that was good. Then the rest of the run was merely hot.

In non running news...

Last Saturday I drove to Chicago to visit my family. I was quite crabby about going for a lot of reasons. When I got to my parents' house, my mom was bugging us to go to a garage sale because she is crazy in love with buying junk that no one needs or wants, including her. I declined, but Eli wanted to go. Caleb didn't, but I made him go anyway.

The sale was a couple blocks from her house, so when she was paying for her junk and the boys said they wanted to go back because they had to go to the bathroom, she sent them on their merry way. Caleb rode a bike and Eli ran after him, but couldn't keep up.

When my mom got home, Eli had arrived, but Caleb hadn't. I didn't think anything of it until she walked in the door asking where he was. My mom started panicking, but I, ever the calm one, hopped in the car because I thought I knew exactly what happened. Once before he had missed the turn to her street, so I figured I'd find him lickity split. I drove in that direction, didn't see him, drove around the park, and then headed back, figuring he had to be at the house by now. Well he wasn't.

We ended up having to call the police. My mom is absolutely the worst person to be around during a crisis, so I was spending most of my time trying to calm her down. The police came, got his description, said they had a few neighboring towns on the alert for him. None of us could remember what color shirt he was wearing, but I'll never believe Eli again. He said Caleb was wearing white, I thought dark ( I was of course right).

Anyway, then I just had to wait at the house in case he came back or the police needed anymore information. My mom drove around. I had just called Chuck to let him know when my mom drove in. She had to point to Caleb sitting in the front seat because I was so distracted. I held it together long enough to call the police to tell them he was safe, then shed a couple tears of relief. Caleb had been crying but claimed he wasn't, and he was wheezing pretty good, so he used his inhaler while we waited for the officer to come back and my mom to go back to get his bike. They left it where she had found him--on a major artery near her house, Harlem Avenue.

The officer came to chat with him about what to do if he ever gets lost again, and that was a real eye opener for me. We spent a lot of time telling the kids to be wary of strangers, but not what to do when they need a stranger's help. Now we all know. Lesson learned.
