Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

4 on the trails. Beautiful day.

They moved my dad back to the hospital while I was out of town this weekend. So I went and saw him after the run. I'll be making plans with my mom and brother later. This is a rough time - memory care facility to hospital to rehab facility to memory care facility to hospital to rehab facility to memory care facility to hospital to rehab facility to memory care facility. We've done this dance a couple of times.

Moved dad to a rehab facility today. He was a real jerk to everyone, especially my mom. The sundowners thing is pretty bad today.

3/4 of the way through the trail loop, I ran into the shirtless tire dragger. We were just talking for a minute, when a car pulled off the side of pinebrook road, the driver got out, left his door open, and started running back where he came from. So we went over to the edge of the drainage ditch that separates pinebrook road from the trails, and figured out that someone in a motorized wheelchair had got caught in loose sand off of the sidewalk on pinebrook road. And the guy in the car was running back to help. The shirtless tire dragger thought it would be good for us to help, so we got to the edge of the ditch, and 1,2,3.... he didn't jump. But I did. I landed nowhere close to the other side of the ditch. In knee deep water. So I crawled out at the exact moment that the helpful driver freed the wheelchair pedestrian from the sand. (I don't know if it was a man or a woman in the wheelchair. Not that it matters. But I don't run with my glasses. Even at 25' from this person, I still couldn't tell.) So then I ran back to get on the trail without jumping (or attempting to jump) the ditch, finshed my mile with squishy Hokas, and went home.

1 on the trails. then I ran into the shirtless tire dragger and his nephew. They were still laughing at me for jumping in the ditch yesterday. For 2 years, S.T.D. has been trying to get me to run these obstacle course races with him. The races are (in theory) designed in a way that you get through the obstacles with teamwork. And then he pulls the "1,2,3.. psyche" on me yesterday? This is not making me any more interested in competing with him. Then I ran 5.5 hood route miles, and had some friends honk at me on the way.

Happy Thanksgiving.
