Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

Legacy trail 4 miles north from Venice Avenue, and back. 9:15 am start. hot and humid. Not quite a mist, but you could sense the moisture in the air. 85 deg., 80% hum., 79 d.p. I was breathing in soup, for sure. Right around 2 miles in, I saw a two bike crash on the legacy trail. They never actually ever came into contact with one another. It was one of those things where they both overcompensated in an effort to avoid a collision, that sent them both to the ground. The one "superserious" cyclist repeatedly yelled at the older joy rider. But in my opinion, superserious cyclist was wrong. I helped them up, got their bikes off the path, and briefly made sure they were okay, then I was back off running, without ever telling them my opinion of what caused the crash. Then I spent the rest of the run reviewing the crash in my head, like it was the Zapruder film.

5.5 miles hood route 5:30 am start. then 1 mile on the trails. Then at 7 am, I met up with the family that does the training circuit at the soccer fields. They did a mile on the trail as warmup. then ladder, shuttle, zig zag sprints, frogs, and of course the dreaded situps, scissor kicks, and pushups. My core is / has always been useless. I'm just trying to mix things up a bit. My mind says they can't all be slow, easy runs. But my body would really like that.
