Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 20. And as of January 18, 2025, one grandson.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

4 on the trails + (8) x 100m grass at increased effort (I can't call these "sprints" with a straight face) + 100m AR on the soccer fields. I was going to wait until I built up something of a base before I started trying to run faster again. But then at church this morning, the sermon could be linked to - If you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done. (Ecclesiastes 11:4, if you're interested.) Anyhow, we'll see how long this divine intervention keeps up. I know I'm going to feel this tomorrow.

4 on the trails + (8) x 100m grass at increased effort + 100m AR on the soccer fields. Same drill as yesterday, except today the faster stuff was run on laps 2 and 3. Feeling some tightness in the upper hamstring / lower glute, which I think indicates that I'm getting my knees higher than what I have been on regular slow stuff, which is good.

4 on the trails + (8) x 100m grass at increased effort + 100m AR on the soccer fields. Same drill as yesterday. I met a guy on the fields, named Ademar? Ademir? from Brazil. Interesting guy. Heavy accent. Turns out, he may have coached me at some soccer camps when I was @ 12 or 13 years old. He's been a server at some high-end place on Boca Grande, for 48 years. Hurricane Milton trashed the place, and it is still being rebuilt.

4 on the trails + (8) x 100m grass at increased effort + 100m AR on the soccer fields. Same drill as yesterday. A walker was taking pictures of what I thought was a stick, which was actually a small rattlesnake. I need to think about running with glasses.

4 on the trails + (8) x 100m grass at increased effort + 100m AR on the soccer fields. Same drill as yesterday, except on a different field because some dudes were playing soccer on my usual field. I talked to Adamir again today.

4 on the trails + (8) x 100m grass at increased effort + 100m AR on the soccer fields. Same drill as yesterday. I lost lots of time today running because of 1. A fat 3'-4' rattlesnake on lap # two. I had to stop and throw sticks at it to get it off the path. and 2. Lots of people wanted to talk to me today. Ademir, the Bahbcaht Whizz guy., etc. I must not look focused while running. I wish I wasn't so stinking approachable!
