Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

20.75 miles. Hood route to legacy trail to circus bridge to caspersen beach and back. 2 old dudes hopped off their bikes and were about to duke it out this morning. That's a new one.

Great mileage. And almost a side show too!

I like your simple training plan! Keeping running simple is a great way to enjoy it!

Did you stop and watch the show?

Okay, so there are parts of the Venetian Waterway Park that are getting new concrete this weekend, because next weekend there is a rowing regatta scheduled. Which means that parts of the path are narrowed for re-paving. I was going through one of the 5' wide sections, when a dude on a bike says "on your left." It was no big deal, plenty of room. Then I realized there was a recumbent bike dude on his tail, waiting for him to pass me, so he might pass him. Regular bike dude merged too slowly back to the right after completing his pass of me for recumbent bike dude's satisfaction. 4-letter words were exchanged between the 2 cyclists. About 75 yards ahead of me, regular bike dude says something along the lines of "say it to my face". Recumbent bike dude stops and hops up with fists clenched. Regular bike dude also stops and bows up.

I continue to run towards this fiasco, and I eventually pass them in the grass to the right as they are screaming at each other at 7 in the morning. Beautiful sunrise, BTW.

After passing them, I realize that once their old guy almost-slap fight finishes, THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PASS ME AGAIN. I could be stuck in this time loop for the rest of my life! This time, recumbent bike dude goes by me first. Then regular bike dude apologizes as he goes by, and that totally threw me. I wish I had something witty to say at that moment, but the best I could come up with was "Have a Good Morning."
