Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

10.2 miles Legacy Trail to Colonia and back. 5:30 am start. 1:28:27. 8:40 pace. 66 deg. 100% hum. 66 d.p. Super dense fog.

So it's @ 6:15 am. The fog has created a blanket over the noises of the world. Everything is still. The only thing moving and making noise, in the whole world, it would seem, is me, as I trudge along. I round a corner, and see another runner. I say "Good morning!" He says nothing, and goes past me. Dude, We are the only people up in this sleepy town! Give me a grunt, a wave, a head nod, or something! We don't have to be BFF's, but you DO have to be polite. It's not like I'm trying to start a conversation in a restroom! Come on, man! I can tell you are "hardcore" about your training, but seriously...

I guess this has been bugging me lately. Just a little rant.

I'll shout "hello" to you at about 5:50 am as I run in the dark, foggy morning to make up for this impolite persons behavior. :-)

BTW...you've got me by a few miles this week.

From flatlander on Tue, Feb 04, 2014 at 08:31:14 from 76.31.9.237

I know exactly what you mean. The more you think about those guys (and girls are just as bad), the madder you get. There is no explanation for that behavior, especially in the South. Maybe he is a transplant and never learned good manners. Love running in the fog though.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Feb 05, 2014 at 18:58:16 from 66.69.93.8

I get a lot fewer "hello's" since moving to San Antonio. I think a lot of people just use headphones and can't hear, but others are just sociopaths.

You should have turned around and ran with the guy in total silence right to his front door. See you tomorrow BFF!

From Tom K on Thu, Feb 06, 2014 at 06:55:03 from 174.58.4.250

Which would be funnier, running in total silence with the guy, or talking his ear off the whole way? The Sarasota Half is coming up in @ 1.5 months, so my usual Bridge runs are getting more crowded. I think I am getting about 1 out of 10 folks that respond to a wave, or a hello. That ain't good.
