Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 18, and 19.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

10.2 miles Legacy Trail to Colonia and back. 5:30 am start. 1:28:27. 8:40 pace. 66 deg. 100% hum. 66 d.p. Super dense fog.

So it's @ 6:15 am. The fog has created a blanket over the noises of the world. Everything is still. The only thing moving and making noise, in the whole world, it would seem, is me, as I trudge along. I round a corner, and see another runner. I say "Good morning!" He says nothing, and goes past me. Dude, We are the only people up in this sleepy town! Give me a grunt, a wave, a head nod, or something! We don't have to be BFF's, but you DO have to be polite. It's not like I'm trying to start a conversation in a restroom! Come on, man! I can tell you are "hardcore" about your training, but seriously...

I guess this has been bugging me lately. Just a little rant.

I gave blood this morning. I'm pretty sure that caused the slower pace.

20.75 Miles. Legacy Trail to Caspersen Beach and back. 2:57:19. 8:33 pace. 64 Deg. 100% hum. 64 d.p. 7 am start. (Boy #2 had a fever last night, therefore, no foosball today, therefore, dad starts running later. Capitalizing on my child's illness- PRICELESS!)

Bad news- This is @ 30 seconds per mile slower than I was looking for. Good news - It really FELT like I was running easy. Also, I ran the second half faster than the first. That is pretty rare for me.

p.s. I got home to a seemingly "cured" child. Hmmm. What's that kid's angle?
