Favorite Running Quotes:
1.
"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.
Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.
A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."
~Nike Poster
2. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
You’ve no doubt heard this. And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape. You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.
But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal. If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.
You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time. And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

I ran with Janae again this morning and heard her big plans for SG. I'm excited for her, but not jealous! I ran her home so I could get an extra mile in. 2 laps around the baseball field barefoot.
Quick stretch - I got some crazy charlie horse in my foot and my toes started moving all their own. Funny.

I had a much harder time getting out of bed and finding my mojo....it took me 3 miles to get warmed up. I decided to push the pace the last 3 miles. 2 laps around the baseball field barefoot. The sprinklers had just turned off and the field was very wet and cold. Stretch I booked hotels for Ogden and Grandmas. Ogden is #1 and if I don't get in, then I'm doing Grandmas. I find out on October 15 if I get into Ogden. I hope my body can hang on until May/June! |

The lamp post ladies had to cancel this morning. They were all feeling sick and wanted to sleep in and get it under control before SG. So I was solo this morning.
I ran the rec center out-back route. I forget how hilly it is. It took me awhile to get going. It always does when I am running alone. But when I looked at my times for the first half of the run/climb, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't realize I was pushing the pace on the way back until I had 1.5 miles to go. I kicked it hard then cooled down with 2 laps around the baseball field barefoot. It was wet and cold again.
We have parent teacher conference and the book fair after school today. My kids were out-of-control with excitement for that darn book fair. I was happy to send them to school this morning.

| Designated cross training day! I have been so tired this week with all my early mornings. I had a mental struggle of "do I catch up on some much needed sleep" or "do I get my strength training in"? It took me awhile to decide:). I compromised and hit snooze once and did a shortened version of my workout. 3x 20 push ups 60/60/60 planks 30 lying leg lifts LLL 10 row 10 fly 20 dips Since my mileage has gone up a bit, I've had a harder time getting my ST in. I need to find a balance because ST is so darn important. |

I noticed that when I run solo, I take awhile to get going...it is more of a progression run. But when I run with someone, my splits are more even. I guess my internal speed is negative splits.
Snowy and cold, but still better than a TM.

| Canal out and back TT: 1:19:00 AP: 9:50 10:26, 10:12, 9:53, 9:43, 10:01, 9:46, 9:27, 9:13 I have several girls in my ward invite me to various runs and races lately. I'm not really into the color runs, foam runs or relay runs. So I've politely declined. But one of the girls I visit teach, so I felt like I needed to make an effort to support her running. Since all my pals are at SG, I texted to see if she wanted to run this morning. I knew she would be a lot slower than me, so it was a designated slower day. She is a new runner, so I did a lot of talking about running and races. We went a lot later than I normally do, so I didn't feel like a zombie and carried the conversation. It was definitely chilly. My gloves got wet at a drinking fountain so my hands were freezing. When I got home, I headed downstairs for some strength training. 3x 10 side to side lunges 10/side single leg hamstring lift 50/side calf raises 1:30 bridge pulses 10/side one arm push up on Bosu 20 skull crusher 16 row planks 7 ball v-up ....I stink at these. Long stretch and foam roll The tops of my feet have been bugging me the past 2 weeks. I've been doing all my PT stuff to help keep the tendons loose. I hardly tied my shoes today. I think that and the very slow pace really helped. Can't wait to read all the SG race reports! Go FRBers!!!! |
