Favorite Running Quotes:

1.

"Sooner or later the serious runner goes through a special, very personal experience that is unknown to most people.

Some call it euphoria. Others say it's a new kind of mystical experience that propels you into a elevated state of consciousness, a flash of joy.

A sense of floating as you run. This experience is unique to each of us, but when it happens, you break through a barrier that separates you from casual runners. Forever. And from that point on, there is no finish line. You run for your life. You begin to be addicted to what running gives you."

~Nike Poster

2.           A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Lao-Tzu

You’ve no doubt heard this.  And you’ve probably recited it in your mind on a run or at the gym when you’re just beginning to get in shape.  You have a goal in sight and this quote brings you back to the current moment.

But the problem is that many runners forget all of the steps between the first one and the goal.  If your goal is to run under two hours for the half marathon then you need to be honest about all of the little steps to get to that goal.

…and what I’d rather see you do is to get the goal out of mind completely, but rather focus on the process, not the outcome. -Jay Johnson Process orientation, not outcome orientation.

You should have goals, but you should take it one step at a time.  And you should be honest about the fact that you don’t know how many steps it will take to get there. ~ Vernon Gambetta

3.  Human beings are made up of flesh, blood and a miracle fiber called COURAGE! ~ George Patton

4.   Find the courage to be patient.

I had a hard time getting moving, but finally got my 6 miles in on the tread mill.  One thing I hate about the treadmill (besides the fact I'm running in place) is that I sweat SO much.  I totally soaked through a towel today.  Urghhhh.... yuck!

I took a long nap this afternoon and finally feel human again.

I think I am taking tomorrow off - my hubby will be at the temple before work, I'm swaping babysitting with a neighbor, helping in my triplets class, and dance recital after school.  I'm ok with taking a day off, finally got some drugs for my sinus infection.  Plus, I'll be able to sleep in!

Hooray for a nap! I don't know how you do it with young triplets and a 2-year-old. Maybe I'm just old and tired now.

This is a pity comment because I saw you on the Lone Faithfuls board. LOL. (I don't know why you were though. You get plenty of comments.)

Wait. So you are Mormon? I never would have guessed.

Oh! I crack myself up!

Uh oh....I must not be portraying myself well. It must be all the beer drinking and cigarette comments :)

I am totally Mormon (in fact, I live .43 miles from a temple). I am the 2nd counselor in the RS presidency and my hubby is the 2nd counselor in the YM presidency.

Today, while volunteering my kids class, my eldest daughter asks the teacher if she knew who wrote the B of M. Then my son, yells across the room, "it's not wrote, it's translated".

Wow. You're dyed in the wool, true blue, through and through.

Glad we got all of that religion stuff cleared up and out of the way.

Hope you are feeling better and that you enjoyed your "day off."

I have to tell you that I am known for flinging sweat all over when I am on the treadmill---all over mine and the treadmills on either side of me. I even have a fan blowing on me the entire time. Just another crappy thing about treadmills.
