As I am debating D-News I wanted to run this morning in the heat. Started in the mid 60s, ended in the mid 70s ... but felt much hotter. I am such a baby! (Btw, does anyone know roughly what type of temps I should expect at D-News if I plan to run about a 3:30?)

6.2 miles with Ry, AP 9:22

8 miles by my lonesome, AP 7:52

1 mile with P-dawg, AP 8:05

Happy Saturday! :)

The heat just zaps the life out of me. Seriously!!! Running MP in the heat does me in. REALLY!!!!

From Lily on Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 13:09:11 from 67.199.178.210

You could always heat train starting now. Where a plastic bag over you during your tempos. But drinks tons.

Allie should know what the avg temps are :)

From Smooth on Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 13:10:45 from 67.2.109.45

NICE JOB! You got NINE mp miles in the heat of the day! Very impressive! The two years that I ran DNews it was torturous! Finishing temp was in the 80s for me. But of course I ran an hour slower than you. So temp at 9am should still be in the 70s unless we get a heat wave on July 25! :)

If you have Ry or someone on the bike alongside to either hose you off or give you ice the last 5K in the city, you will be fine!

GOOD JOB!!! KUDOS to P-Dawg on that 8:05! He'll be running sub-8 soon enough!

Lily~

I am such a baby. I seriously have no desire to run in anything hotter than this!!!! Hmmm ... Allie would only know how hot it was going to be for about half of my marathon!!!! :) :) :)

What did you decide about D-News? I still think the Poky marathon would be a great option for you if you decide against it. PLUS ... you get a big ole bag of potatoes at the end! VERY COOL! :)

SSF~

Are you going to run D-News this year????

From Fritz on Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 16:00:39 from 65.100.192.74

sleeping in is a great way to force yourself to get used to the heat. 90 is the expected high for July 25th. Since you will be finishing at 8:55 I think it will only be about 70-75 degrees.

From RAD on Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 16:10:35 from 98.202.17.113

Teena, you are a crazy woman! (I say that with the utmost respect!!). I still can't hold a 7:40 for that long - even if it was 60 degrees. My legs are just lead after those 2 marathons!! But, you did them too and are bustin' out the miles in the heat as well. If you are feeling good I say go for Des News! It will be warm, but I like Smooth's idea of having Ry support you on the bike at the end.

Fritz~

8:55!?!? Oh man ... that was just the giggle and bright escape I needed from the insane amount of studying I am trying to accomplish this afternoon!!! DANG there are a lot of muscles in our feet with some pretty crazy attachments (luckily, they are mostly named pretty logically)!!! :) :) :)

Rachel~

I don't do near the crosstraining that you do. My running mile and crosstraining miles are getting less and less as school is getting tougher and tougher! I think my best shot at keeping in shape at this point is to run less miles but run them faster than I normally would when possible. :)

From Smooth on Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 23:45:10 from 67.2.109.45

I am not sure about DNews! The devil side of me says to do it. The logic side of me says WHY do it? WHY kill yourself? I don't do well in hot weather races and all that downhill might turn my quads and knees into mush! :)

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 11:41:30 from 67.2.101.26

SSF~

I totally understand your thought process. :) Btw, how are your quads and knee today after AF? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you feel fantastic! :)

From Smooth on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 11:45:13 from 67.2.109.45

SSF ~ They are just a tad sore and tight otherwise fine!

So are you going to run DNews for sure?

From glidergirl on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 11:58:49 from 155.97.238.134

Good job Teena!! :) You're doing great! And I say any running at all during a schedule like yours is a huge accomplishment, keep it up! :)
