20 miles, AP 8:33

AWESOME run with Matt (The Running Professor) and Vuyk (JohnnyV). :)

All our kids' games got canceled today, so we postponed our run until 8:00 this morning. Ran the first 11 with both Matt and John, and the final 9 with John. We stopped a couple of times to refuel and use the bathrooms. (I drank 20 oz of fluids and took 1 gu.) I was a bit worried that I would struggle during this run, but strangely, I felt great throughout (other than being a little wet and cold at times)! :) YAHOO!!!! Three high mileage weeks for me and I feel fantastic! I am definitely taking this coming up week much easier though. Want to play it safe! :)

Great job! Got to love it when 20 miles is just a walk in the park!

From Teena Marie on Sat, Apr 09, 2011 at 14:43:08 from 67.2.71.182

Oh Kathie, don't get me wrong, it was not a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination!!! :)

I think I just had it in my head that I was going to struggle, and then when I didn't, it was quite euphoric! :)

Also, I think starting with a couple of miles in the 9s helped overall tremendously! :)

Rachel~

I was excited about how good I felt at the end. :)

Slick~

Thanks! I am really trying hard right now. :)

Brent~

I don't feel ready quite yet. However, I do feel like I am getting there. :)

Allie~

I'm crossing my fingers and toes. I am going to take a week of reduced mileage this week. I think I need it. But I don't want it to mess my system up. I hope I am doing the right thing. :)

Cut back weeks are part of any serious training program!

NICE!!! I love that you are enjoying the high mileage weeks and running with the boys!!! :)

How's Ry doing? Is he getting better at using his left hand/arm? I feel badly for him! :(

From Teena Marie on Sun, Apr 10, 2011 at 19:42:39 from 67.2.71.182

Hey SSF,

I cannot truthfully say that I've loved every mile of these past few high mileage weeks. Some days I don't even feel like running. However, overall I am enjoying the experience and am anxious to see what kind of outcome the extra miles will produce.

As for Ry, he is really struggling. He has such an independant personality that this has been very difficult for him. He hates having to have others do so much that he would normally do. :(

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday and getting some rest. Love you.

"I am going to take a week of reduced mileage this week. I think I need it. But I don't want it to mess my system up. I hope I am doing the right thing. :)" Isn't the easier week is supposed to allow your muscles and other tissue to regenerate and thus help you get stronger and faster? Won't some rest and recovery allow you to run harder with your next big push before taper? Won't this help you to reach your full potential?

Technically, yes!!! Oh man ... my head is so messed up sometimes!!! ;)
