I ran 6.5 on the treadmill. The first mile was warmup because my legs were really stiff. I've had a hamstring/glute "strain" the past two weeks, and I felt it a little more than normal today, possibly due to the longer run on Saturday. It seems like it takes me awhile to shake off the cobwebs on Mondays after resting on Sunday, so usually I haven't felt like doing tempo/speed work on Mondays and push it to Tuesday, like I did today. Toward the end, I was running at 7:30 pace and feeling good.

On the treadmill, I ran 8x400m. The first two were at 9.0 mph and 9.5 mph. The last six were at 10.0 mph (or 6:00 pace). It was a little hard, but actually not that bad. Rest was at 8:00 pace. Hopefully I didn't push too hard for the week. Feeling some aches and pains. Hopefully nothing big.

51 minute elliptical workout on a relatively easy setting (level 10).

This was probably my least favorite workout of the year. My day hasn't been the best, which probably was the main reason. I felt like running instead, so maybe I should have done that.

Hill workout on the treadmill. Only did level 4 so I wouldn't kill myself off for the race. Not a bad workout. Better than yesterday.

This was my first 10K in years. It was a lot of fun. We went up the canyon and ran down it, so that made for some quick times. The scenery was beautiful, and the people were nice. My wife and I drove down and then stayed with Dustin and his family. It was fun to be there with Dustin, the race champion. He beat his PR for the course by a minute and won the race. That was cool. As for me, I was trying to beat 44 minutes and really wanted to run it in 42 minutes. I hit my target pace for the first mile (6:30), held that for the second mile, then slowed down a bit for the next 3 miles but not too much. Mile 6 was really hard with an uphill, and I ran slower, and then I kicked it in the end. I was a little embarrassed that I had that much of a kick left, but that's OK. It was the first race in a long time. I was really pleased with my time. I know I can get better, too. And I feel like I ran smart, starting relaxed, passing people the whole race, and finishing strong. It got me excited for the half marathon, which is in 5 weeks!

Mile 5: 33:10 (6:45)

Mile 6: ?? (about 7:25)

Thanks for reading.
