This was my first 10K in years. It was a lot of fun. We went up the canyon and ran down it, so that made for some quick times. The scenery was beautiful, and the people were nice. My wife and I drove down and then stayed with Dustin and his family. It was fun to be there with Dustin, the race champion. He beat his PR for the course by a minute and won the race. That was cool. As for me, I was trying to beat 44 minutes and really wanted to run it in 42 minutes. I hit my target pace for the first mile (6:30), held that for the second mile, then slowed down a bit for the next 3 miles but not too much. Mile 6 was really hard with an uphill, and I ran slower, and then I kicked it in the end. I was a little embarrassed that I had that much of a kick left, but that's OK. It was the first race in a long time. I was really pleased with my time. I know I can get better, too. And I feel like I ran smart, starting relaxed, passing people the whole race, and finishing strong. It got me excited for the half marathon, which is in 5 weeks!

Mile 1: 6:30

Mile 2: 13:01 (6:31)

Mile 3: 19:45 (6:44)

Mile 4: 26:25 (6:40)

Mile 5: 33:10 (6:45)

Mile 6: ?? (about 7:25)

Thanks for reading.

Great race Pic. I think you ran smart and you'll continue to see your times improve as you continue with your training. We had fun having your family stay the night, and look forward to having you guys come down again sometime.

Hummm....how did I miss this? Do you post it late? I usually try and catch everyone's races, but I missed yours. Anyway, great job! And that's cool that you hung out with the winner beforehand. When I did the Man Against Horse 12-miler, I shared a motel room with the winner of the 50-miler, so that was cool. Makes for a good topic of coversation afterwards.
