Ran the RM 50k this morning as a training run for the UV Marathon in June. Went out pretty easy on the first 12 until I realized we had taken a wrong turn right after mile 9 aid station.  Apparently one of the "ranchers" on the course didn't want the race going down his road and moved all the markers and acutally put down arrows to go the wrong way. Luckly we only went 1 mile extra - however, 3 miles of the detour was up hill. After the race there were a ton of people that ended up running up to 36 miles, so we got off easy.

Other than that the race was great. Once I got on the road I was able to drop the group of guys I was running with. I just kept it in the Mid 6's down to Schivwits (sp) where I met up with Kendra with a slap on the butt. After chatting with Her for a while and finding out I had no chance of getting the 1st place guy I just cruised it on in.

Good day overall - still pretty sore from the miles and a little sick.

Congrats on a solid race and great podium finish. Looking forward to seeing you at UVM!

Did you slap her or did she slap you (or was it a reciprocal slap on the butt)?

Needless to say, details on your report are sadly lacking.

Seriously, though, great workout. I don't think I'll be running 32 for a training workout for my marathon. I am nervous about doing 24.

OH, dang. I thought all of you guys in the front had gone the right way and not had to run extra at all! So, I take it you ran 1 mile UPHILL and then made a left when you had the option to go left, right, or straight? Down a dirt road that eventually brought you to the mile 12 aide station? Bummer, but still a good time!

I was one of the lucky ones that went the very farthest out that we could go. Once climbing the hill (mile 10.25) we all went straight (aside from Krissy whoever, the R2R2R lady, who went back the way we came and notified the race director). We ONLY got 4 extra miles, though. The most anyone ran was 35.2, and there were about 12 of us!

Nice job!

Thank Guys.

Jeff - I'm pretty excited about UV Marathon. I'm hoping for a new "Old Man" PR. You and the guys are going to rock the team comp!

Michelle - I slapped Kendra on the butt. I freaked her out pretty good because she didn't hear me coming. - Sorry my race reports are always lacking. I have little patients when it comes to blogging. I'm just happy I get my miles down. Thanks for caring - I will try to be more detailed ;-)

Kelli, Sorry to hear you were one of those who ran a 60K. That's Crazy!

When we turned right after mile 9 I was wondering what was going on. I just thought they changed the course. Then by the time we got to the top of the hill I knew something was wrong. Luckily I have run a bit up in that area and knew we needed to turn left to go back down to the A.S. at mile 12. Good times!!!

Well, I wish I had been fast enough to see you guys go the RIGHT way! Bummer, but a beautiful race. I will be back!

My husband took a good picture of you at the finish, I will have to send it to you.

It was nice to meet you Friday at your store then again on Saturday after the race. Great job on a 2nd place finish even with the crazy rancher's antics.
