It was nice to get out and run after a week off. I was still a little sore from my leg tackle flipping encounter with the dog last Wednesday, but it loosened up and felt okay. Specifically, my right knee was a little sore and my lower back. I did my Walgreens-Wabash loop with a 0.3 mile cooldown with Izzie. It was a beautiful sunny day with low humidity and temps in the 60s. It was perfect for a run.

It was another beautiful sunny day. I decided to run along the Lincoln Prairie Grass trail out to the interstate overpass and back. I noticed someone had painted 0.25 mile marks for a mile on the way out and decided I would use them a little on the way back. I did some 400s at a little faster pace using the marks on the trail as well as the marks on the electrical wire poles. The trail has electrical poles running the entire distance with 0.1 mile marks on the poles. I did the 400 followed by a 400 recovery 3 times in a row. I'm guessing the pace was between 6-6:30/mile. I still need to find my watch. It felt good, but I feel like the week off made me lose more fitness than I expected. They seemed harder than they should have at that pace and didn't feel all that sustainable. I do need more base before doing any kind of real interval workout, but it is nice to stretch the legs from time to time.
