LSD in Del Rio. AP: 8:43 Started out at my house and ran toward the West gate of the base. The West gate closes at 8 a.m. and I barely made it before the gate closed. Ran down to the highway where my running journey would continue. Yes, I ran on the shoulder of the highway for 12 miles. Ran North toward Del Rio (6 miles). At mile 6, I stopped to GU and someone actually pulled over to see if I was OK. Texans are sweet, even though the fellow frightened me a bit. I ran along side a border road (where boarder patrol catches illegals),and hoped they wouldn't get mad at me. Made it to Del Rio city and stopped at a gas station to fill my water bottle. Continued East on the highway that goes to San Antonio. The entire 6 miles was in a head wind, nothing new to me. Scenery was ugly. I watched airplanes in the sky wondering if my husband was flying one. Made it back to the base (Main entrance), and the guard asked for my ID and how far I had ran. I told him I was at mile 14, he about passed out. The other guard mentioned he saw me earlier at the West gate. They were both amazed. Last happy two miles on base. :) No running companions this morning. My friend Elyse wanted me to do 3 miles with her and when I got to her house there was no answer. People do not understand the run! |
