I decided to continue my weekly quarter-mile-sprint-to-failure test today.  Did 7.75 miles at 8:27 AP, then 11.5 mph (5:13 pace) for the last quarter mile.  Felt pretty much like 11 mph did last week, no issues.  The TMs go up to 14 mph so I'm confident I will get flung off at some point, just hasn't happened yet.  Next week, 12.0.

The exciting piece of news for the day was that Danielle and I were selected in the Houston lottery - so I will be doing a full marathon on January 30 and she's doing the half.  It's now setting in that I haven't run more than 8 miles at once since my HM in April.  Scary...

WOW on the fast 1/4 mile today and fast 1/2 yesterday! Going to have to change your name to smokin' fast joe!! And you've been building a great aerobic base this last couple months - you'll be in great shape to start longer runs!

SEE YA IN HOUSTON!

CL - thanks, I definitely think this basebuilding will help when I do start going long.

April - I was wondering if you'd made it, cool! Maybe I can pace you for the first 200 meters before I gas out.

You have until January, now worries!

When you get flung off the treadmill, get it on video. It will make you rich!! That is a heck of a TM pace, I am impressed. I think I might have made it to 11mph ONCE and only for about 1/10th of a mile. You are amazing, it is scary on those machines.

So, I think I missed something here at some point. Are you deployed or working or what???

From SlowJoe on Wed, Aug 18, 2010 at 00:53:55 from 214.13.130.104

Thanks Kelli, I think I will need all the training time I can get based on my terrible first outdoor run this morning. Anyway, I'm sure you could go even faster; it's just weird at first to sprint on a TM.

I am deployed to Iraq, got here 6 or 7 weeks ago. But I should be back a couple weeks before Houston which is January 30.

Glad you still have time to run and that they have TM so you do not have to bake outside every day.
