Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

I ran with a fellow St. George trainee  this morning.  We took a new loop (new for me), which was fun.  Average pace was 10:05.  I'm still struggling with pace, and I'm not sure why.

Actually, the big news is that our house was burglarized yesterday...in broad daylight, while we were at church.  We had all of our doors locked, but they came in through the doggie door.  We don't even have a dog, so they must have been watching us.  They stole a lot of stuff, but fortunately didn't damage anything.  I  hardly slept last night.  I took today off work to get some stuff done.  They stole my husband's house keys, so we are changing all of the locks today and putting locks on our gates.  We are  also getting an alarm system.  We live in a very quiet neighborhood, so this is surprising.  They took our big-screen TV, computer, iPods, digital camera (all photos from the last two years: gone!), my husband's Garmin (but not mine), and some other stuff.

I got home first and discovered everything but didn't know if they were still in the house.  It was terrifying.  We feel so violated, and I'm scared to be in the house alone, but I'm scared for both of us to leave.  I knew if I didn't make plans to meet up this morning that I would have skipped my run, so I'm glad I did.  We are without Internet at home, so I will still blog, but comments will probably be somewhat limited since I'll be blogging from work.

Be careful, and lock your doors!!

I am deeply sorry for your loss..both of your hard worked for items, your photos and your sense of security. Chances are lightening won't stike again..try to relax and be grateful for what you have. I was kidnapped as a child and I understand being violated.

Omigosh! I'm so sorry! June 1st strikes again! Some PEOPLE. Wonder if there is some way to make the Garmin tell you where the dang criminals are...

So sorry you had this happen. Losing your pictures and your feeling of security are the worst. Hey, at least your garmin was safe! Scary. . .

I am so sorry - That is very scary. I have not experienced anything that extreme but we were vandalized several times over a 3 week period a couple of months ago and I was so angry. Like Sarah said, it probably will not happen again, but feeling secure and safe is so important.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Sarah, I am so glad you came through your ordeal.

Maybe future Garmins can track criminals. I'll just have to remember to leave it on all the time...and always upgrade the Garmin when the new model comes out!

Ah, I feel for you. We got robbed last August, and of course at work my lab has been sabatoged numerous times. It is horrible. I am so sorry for you. I hope you can get to the point where you feel safe again.
