Ran the SLC 15k today. Last night I was kind of freaking out cause I haven't run 10 miles since coming home from my mission, and it's a 9.3 mile race. I considered just not running, then I convinced myself I needed to, decided I could just do it as a long run. Well the first 3 miles were quicker despite my decision to run slow, 6:59, 7:18, and 7:25. Then I hit a wall, I was definitely not where I needed to be mentally. When we got to Liberty Park I considered dropping out, then realized about a mile later that I needed to get my car keys from bag check so I needed to finish. That's when it turned into a "just get this over with" long run. I did stop a few times, I know...I'm weak. It felt like I was finishing a 15 miler at the end not 10 miles, sucky. Oh well, at least I finished! Ended up averaging 7:40, so hooray for 50% pace. Warmed up 1.25 and cooled down .5 to make it 11 for the day. |
