Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

10.5 with Jen in Salem + strides, 7:24 pace.

Jen gave me a good pep talk this morning and talked me off of my downward spiraling ledge.  Thank goodness for her for helping me to see the bigger picture and realize that this funk/sub-par streak of performances will pass as long as I stay consistent.  She reminded me of when she went through a similar funk last Summer and how she see's it in her track/XC runners often.  As long as I'm not injured or overtraining which I don't think I am I should come out of it.  I just need to focus on my mental game and stay consistent.  I'm going to get some routine blood work done this week just to rule out anything major being off.

Good advice from Jen. Hey I thought you were doing more 5k/10k focus this year :) MIH

You are doing everything right. Just keep consistent (that is the key) -- you'll snap out of "the funk." And, I agree: get that blood checked to make sure it's not anemia or something similar.

I like what you (and Jen) have said here. I've been up and down and up and down recently... a mental basket case of sorts :-) But there is a big difference between being mentally out of it and physically worn down. If you are healthy and not physically over-training, but you can sort of "go through the motions" and keep doing good workouts, mileage, long runs, you can weather the storm and then when you get your mental drive back, you'll be a monster! :-) At least that is what I'm hoping for myself. I bet the same will hold true for you.

I also recommend getting a new iPod playlist with a boatload of 1990s hip-hop/dance music.

Sounds like you're on the right track Rachelle. Hope all goes well with the blood work.
