Short-Term Running Goals: My goal is to continue to enjoy running and maybe get faster a long the way! :) Long-Term Running Goals: Run until I am 100 years old! Personal: I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences. I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn. I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University. | 11.5 in the orchards with 2 x 3 miles, 7:03 pace. I wanted the first set to be a comfortable marathon pace and the second set a little faster with really hammering the last mile.
#1: 6:41, 6:16, 6:28 - this looks ugly but it is course adjusted. First mi gradual uphill, second mile gradual downhill, last mile flat.
#2: 6:29, 6:22, 6:02 - conservative start but I was really able to push that last mile which felt good. I'd like to say it was comfortable but it kicked my butt.
I'm making progress. I'm frustrated with how uncomfortable running fast feels right now but I think I just need to get more comfortable with feeling uncomfortable! Also the wind was a major issue this morning. It was relentless.

| 6.5 miles on SF River trail with my sister & Julia, 9:12 pace. Super chill and fun recovery run that I really needed after 2 hard workouts this week. If anything I felt like I held my sister back this morning. She is in really good shape right now and I even convinced her to run a half marathon this year.

| 15.5 miles on the Utah Valley Marathon course. Julia and I ran miles 7-22 of the UVM course starting on the hills outside of wallsburg. It was a really great run and I hope to do this at least 1-2 more times before the race. Those hills are always tougher than I give them credit for but I really do love the rolling changes and nature of the course. We took the first 9 miles easy and then both started our tempos 6:08, 6:17, 6:18, 6:09, 2.5 mile cooldown.

| Rebecca's husband was nice enough to drive Jos, Julia, Ericka, Rebecca and I up to south fork of Provo this morning. We did a 2 mile warmup and then all kind of spread out and started our own workouts. I was planning to do 3 x 2 miles but after 2 miles I felt really good and decided a nice 6 mile progressive tempo would boost my confidence more than the 3 x 2. I've really been struggling with pacing for some reason lately so the main focus this morning was to start conservatively.

After I finished I cooled down back to Julia & Ericka and finished there workout with them. I asked them what pace they wanted and they said 7:10. They did a 7:09 1st mile and then I really pushed them the 2nd mile and they stayed with me so I kind of kept pushing and we hit 6:48. 12 miles total all on the PCHM course.

| 3 x 2 mile workout with Jen, Amber, and Melissa on the Orchard loop in Payson. This route is tough because it starts/finishes on gradual uphills. But the consistency is nice. We were all kind of tanked after the first 2 sets so we skipped the half mile uphill on the last set and just did 1.5.

| 17 miles in Hobble Creek Canyon with Jen, Rebecca, and Janae. I did a 6 mile tempo on the way down the canyon 6:22, 6:16, 6:15, 6:14, 6:13, 6:13. I wanted more tempo miles but I was pushing the pace a bit on the last mile so I called it good with 6. Not really a great run for me. I was feeling fatigued but I got some really good training in last week and was running on pretty tired legs.

| Early morning Track workout at Salem HS with the South County Crew. We had a big group this morning including Mack, Aubs, Melissa, Scott, Jen, & Amber. Everyone kind of doing there own workout. Jen was doing 20 x 400 which sounded completely awful. I was late and so everyone was already into the workout when I got there. 2 mi wu

6 x 400: 85, 83, 84, 84, 84, 83 (200 active recovery)
I was really discouraged with this workout initially but I think it is my first time on the track this year so it's really no surprise that I felt a little rusty.

| 20.5 miles on the UVM course, 7:10 pace. Starting 1 mile into Wallsburg and finishing at the finish line. Pretty miserable conditions today. I did 5 mi easy with Janae, Rebecca, and Josse and then started a tempo 6:56, 6:28, 6:35, 6:33, 6:34, 6:31, 6:30, 6:28, 6:35. I wanted 10 but my legs were done at 9. I did however keep a fairly steady pace until the finish because it was pouring and I just wanted to be finished. Soaking wet and my feet were not happy.

I've had 3 pretty hard runs in the last 4 days and my legs were crying for some easy adaptation days by the end of today's run.
A friend sent me this quote this morning and it really resonated with me.
