Weekly review

I am finally starting to feel the rewards of my training effort and like I will be ready to run my ultra on May 22nd. I got in 55 miles running this week with a 30 miler at altitude with a lot of elevation gain. I also cycled 87 miles this week doing a 52 miler the day after the 30 mile run and feeling strong. Today was m not feeling any real soreness or tired muscles. It will be interesting to see how my legs feel tomorrow morning when I actually run again.

Now that I got in a nice solid long week I will do a recovery week this week.  It works out perfectly since I'll be up in Utah skiing with Chase on Friday and Saturday

AM. I ran to work nice and slow at a recovery effort this morning going up and around to get here. Did 11 miles with about 1000 feet elvevation gain.

PM. 3 miles probably a little too fast but still easy effort on the way home from work.

I slept in this morning to better recover from my double yesterday. It felt good.

Lunch. 2 mile walk during lunch. Legs felt solid so I'm excited to get up in the mountains after work to play on the trails and get in some vert.

PM. A little over 7 miles up in the mountains maxing out around 8300 ft with 2300 feet elevation gain. It was a lot of fun but the trails were still icy and slippery so I had to take it slow.

AM. 27 mile bike ride to work on a windy morning.  The wind made for some really fast segments on strava, conversely it made for some really slow ones also.

PM. 5 mile ride home from work.  I haven't actually done this yet at the time I'm writing this, but I'll have to get home and the 5 mile route is the one I'm going to take.  Hopefully the wind will still be blowing out of the north like this moring and I'll be flying.

To update yesterday's ride home from work, it was blowing out of the north still.  There is a 3 mile strava segment that is a nice gradual climb that I've been trying to improve on that heads south, so I took advantage of the north wind and posted the fastest cycling time up that segment yesterday! Kind of cheating, but whose to say the previous fastest wasn't on a day with a strong tailwind.

AM. 5 miles on the trails with my weighted vest with 685 feet elevation gain, done at a nice and easy effort that I like to call my jog/hike.  The next 2 days I'll be skiing with Chase!!! So excited to spend time with him and to ski.

Skied all day with Chase. Unfortunately on my first run of the day I took a fall and did something bad to my left knee. I still skied although in pain the whole day. I can hardly walk tonight.

I could walk better this morning but still not well at all. I decided to give skiing a try anyways and found that I was able to ski almost pain free. We skied pretty hard today mostly doing black runs once I got confidence in my knee back. Afterwards me knee actually felt a bit better to walk on...weird.
