I was excited to do my first longish run for the first time since Boston. I got up early and headed to the gym for a 12 mile TM run. I set it on Random Hills level 2 (max incline 2.2%) 7.5 mph (8:00) and got started. As I ran I just kept feeling better and better. It was one of those days were I felt like I could just keep running at that pace for hours. It all felt very easy. My HR never got higher than the low 140s. I guess all the cross training did keep me in decent shape. I wasn't so sure, but after today I'm feeling pretty good about my fitness level as I ramp up my milage to get ready for Boston training. I just hope my foot continues to cooperate.

Great job staying in shape through the injury. I know that if I ever get injured I will not have the dedication to cross train.

Boston? Don't you have to qualify first?

From Smooth on Fri, Oct 23, 2009 at 18:41:32 from 174.23.240.142

YAY!!! SUCH HAPPY NEWS!!! Love to hear that you felt like you could run forever at that pace. All that hard work in xtraining really pays off. You're AWESOME!

Burt! Rhett qualified at SGM'08 AND Boston'09.

Andy, Tim, Paul, Kathie, Burt, Smooth and Teena: Thanks for all the positive vibes. It has been a tough 6 months for me, but all of your encouragement helped get me through it. I'm still not totally out of the woods with my foot, but I can see the daylight at the edge of the forest. I just hope "keep that foot happy" as Teena said.

And Marc too, and all the bloggers who have encouraged me through my injury, thanks.
