Last night I did something I haven't done in a long time.  I ran without a purpose.  I can't remember the last time I did that.  Before I new anything about training properly I used to run that way all the time.  I had speed work planned, but it was such a beautiful night, I just felt like running.  I ended up running 8 miles at 7:36 pace... too slow for a tempo run, too fast for an easy run, not far enough for a long run.  I just went out and ran.  It was nice, but when I was all done, I said to myself, "what did I accomplish?"  And, I couldn't come up with anything.  I guess I better get back to running with a purpose.

Still, it was better than no run. (I'm good at running with no purpose.)

LOL Sounds like running for the joy of just being able to run. Got to have a run or 2 like that and its good to see you did so well on it too.

Ok Rhett I normally don't post on your blog because you are way out of my league and you couldn't learn anything from me but you have gone too far with this statment "What did I accomplish and I couldn't come up with anything" If anything you learned your natural pace what feels good to you. You cleared your mind and had a great run. Maybe it was just what you need for the day. This is me the yoga zen master getting of her soapbox now!

LOVE IT!!! That's what I call RUNNING FREE. My runs are 80% that way cause I still don't know anything about Proper Training. Don't you just LOVE IT!!!

AMEN to Kathie's words. There IS PURPOSE in running tho' you might think you run without a purpose.

I say "Amen" as well ...

But now that you enjoyed yourself ... get to it!! (I'm just teasing, of course, well ... kind of!!)

Btw ... I would listen to the yoga zen master. She talked me into trying yoga and I have never regretted it!!

Thanks for making me feel better about my run. It was fun to just get out and run.
