MORNING

It was a freezing 47 degrees this morning so I broke out the gloves before heading out into the dark.  I wanted to get some hill work in, so I did my 2 1/2 min repeats (11 after a 5 min warm up)  on a rolling big hills road.  I did 4.4 miles at 5k pace and 3.22 miles easy for a total run of 7.62 miles in 1 hour, avg pace 7:53.  After jump roping last night for the first time in a long time, I was again suprised that my legs felt great.  I guess I am in better shape than I thought, just fat.

Oh I am sure you are not fat... but I guess there is runner fat and rest of the world fat. Maybe you should lay off the pop tarts!

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:12:05

Oh, I reserve the Pop Tarts for special carb loading days. I did eat them the day of my last 5K, but it was SGM before that. Pop Tarts are the super top secret energy food, that are not to be over used or abused.

Rhett...

You must be super-human. Way to go on that run.

I've actually tried pop-tarts before a race a few times. Sadly, they give me heartburn. I thought they'd be the perfect thing for me before a race because they're compact, have a wrapper and they aren't messy.

From DonGardinero on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 16:24:56

Hey...Maybe I should try chocolate flavored pop-tarts. Normally I try strawberry. Chocolate usually doesn't give me heartburn. Hmmmm

From Smooth on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 16:46:01

Rhett -- I want to be as fat as you, and even just HALF as fit as you. Are you going to bring some pop-tarts to Boston for us? I'm not picky with flavors, but chocolate sounds nummy.

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 17:15:41

Smooth, of course I'll be packing Pop Tarts and I may have to pick up a few while I'm there. If everyone is really nice, I may even share. LOL I definitely will be avoiding all those Duncan Donuts. Those things are everywhere in Boston and they just are not that good.

LOL now the secret is out. It wasnt the special carb loading diet you went on. It was the pop tarts. LOL So glad you joined the blog. Now all your little secrets are getting out.:)

I downed way too many frosted vanilla creme flavor pop tarts last month, as they were on sale at the gas station I go to on my way into work for my morning Diet Mountain Dew. Fortunately they are no longer on sale this month (I'm a sucker for a deal). My waist shows how much I liked them.

Ah, Diet Mountain Dew and Pop Tarts, what a combination!
