Hope you have a great time on your Vacation man. Sounds like it will be a wonderful time. You might be just like me though. I dont have any BIG races coming up so its just kind of recovery and build up with nothing really coming up that I have to train hard for. When is your next BIG race?? Boston??
btw, where are you going on vacation? Also, do you use the elliptical much? I just bought one on Sat., mostly for my wife, but thought I might start doing some crosstraining on it to take stress off of the knee. Do you feel it gives you a good cardio workout?
I think the elliptical is great. It helped me drop 45 or so pds. And got me to where I am today. I would use it alot for Xtraining and also recovery from a injury for sure. You will love it Matt once you get use to it.
Going on vacation to Belize...10 days without the kids.
Yes, I do the eliptical 2x per week. I set it on interval training so every 2 minutes it changes incline. I try and keep my strides per min. at 180, just like running, and I think it is a great substitute for running....less impact and working very similar muscles.

Rhett...
Years ago when I was a member of a gym I did the elliptical every time I worked out and I loved it. We're planning on buying one for the home, but first we want to get a stationary bike.
I was checking out the ellipticals at Dick's Sporting Goods on Sat. Do you have any recommendations? The salesman talked about stride length, flywheel weights...all very foreign to me.
I need to incorporate xtraining per my doctor's advice.
THANKS!!! And YES, have a fantastic, romantic, fabulous Belize vacation!!!
Yep that is what I would do the interval trainer on the one I used. 2 mins hard 2 easy. And tried keeping it over 180s. Sometimes on the easier up to 200 if I could. Sure made the hard easier it seemed. But great for burning off the extra weight for sure.
