I really wanted to run this morning as my gift to myself for my birthday today, so as part of my workout today I jumped on the treadmill and gave it a go.   I ran 1 very slow (9:58) mile.  Pain started very mild around a 1 and gradually increased as I went on.  By the end it was around a 4,  not too bad.  The real key will be how it feels later today and then tomorrow.

It felt great to run, even if it was just 1 mile.  Now I'm at a whopping 3 miles for May!

Be careful! and happy birthday :) Don't people usually gift themselves a day off for their birthdays?

From rhett on Fri, May 22, 2009 at 16:45:21 from 170.215.58.122

Thanks everyone, Matt I've had way too many days off this month. I've only totalled 3 miles of running. I really really really want to run, but my foot just isn't ready yet.

Happy Bday RHETT!!!! Hope its a enjoyable one. And you will recover fast from that PF injury. 1 mile is still 1 mile in the right direction.:)

Happy birthday, Rhett. Hope you didn't go up into another age division.

From Kathie on Fri, May 22, 2009 at 23:20:10 from 207.155.176.10

That is one running mile I am sure you are not sitting around doing nothing! I hope you are logging some where what you are doing for future reference. Not that you will ever get hurt again but in case you need to help out a friend.

From DonGardinero on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 01:23:46 from 152.216.7.5

Happy Birthday, Rhett!!! I accidentally posted my well wishes on another day. Not sure which one. How old are you now?

From rhett on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 12:01:13 from 170.215.58.122

You are all so kind. I had a great B-day. I got out of work around 2:30 and then just relaxed with the family the rest of the day. It was nice. Dale I'm 38 now so no change in AG. Kathie, I have not been logging my workouts anywhere. Maybe I should, but it kind of depresses me.

I've been sooooo busy lately, I missed your birthday!!!! Well, happy belated birthday, Bro. How's the pain today?

From DonGardinero on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 11:56:49 from 75.162.173.145

How is your foot feeling, Rhett?

From Rhett on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 15:19:03 from 170.215.58.122

Marc and Dale, My foot is staying about the same for the last couple weeks, no better, no worse. Every once in a while I think there is an improvment and then the next day it is hurting again. I've been a good boy and have not done any running accept that 1 slow mile on my B-day. I've taken the time to get back in the gym and hit the weights again, do eliptical work and deep water run. I have put on 7 pounds since Boston though. I'm just not motivated to eat right when I'm not running.

From Smooth on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 15:28:41 from 71.36.65.147

Rhett,

I've been out of town and the last couple weeks. Here's my belated birthday wish...SPEEDY HEALING!!! Gosh 38!!! you're so young! I know how much you love running. It's a bummer that you can't do what you love. The bright side is you can do other Xtraining workouts and do them so well. Keep up the good work, eat healthy, stay positive!

From Rhett on Thu, May 28, 2009 at 15:46:19 from 170.215.58.122

Thanks Smooth, without all the encouragement I've received from all of you, I don't know if I would be surviving this injury very well.

From JeffC on Fri, May 29, 2009 at 16:12:18 from 167.207.128.101

Happy Birthday! Sorry about the late birthday wishes, I guess I haven't been checking your blog lately due to your injury. I hope things are continuing to improve for that foot of yours.

From Teena on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 17:53:55 from 67.177.20.13

Okay Rhett ... we need an update!!! :)

From Smooth on Sat, May 30, 2009 at 23:31:32 from 71.32.237.170

How's the Xtraining? With the AZ scorching heat, you must be spending more time in the pool?

From Rhett Burgener on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 02:22:07 from 216.67.217.252

Here's the update. I'm still being good and not running. I have done a lot of arc training this week without pain, but my foot still feels tender just walking around and every once in a while gives me a bit more pain than I'd like. I would like to give it another test run and even considered it this morning, but I'm afraid to set myself back more. I guess eventually I have to give it a try... maybe next week.

From DonGardinero on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 03:42:20 from 75.162.174.71

A wise decision giving it a little more time, Rhett. Thanks for the update.

From Smooth on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 11:17:29 from 71.32.237.170

GOOD JOB keeping up with Xtraining. Are there therapies that can help the tendon heal faster? I guess proper healing takes time. Resting the foot is one of the best and safe way to heal. Best of luck and keep us posted on the test run next week. Crossing my fingers and toes for NO setback.

From Teena on Sun, May 31, 2009 at 15:36:36 from 67.177.20.13

Rhett,

One more week of active rest/cross-training will not hurt you ... but running too soon definitely will!!

You are being very patient. I know how hard that is. June will be a much better month for you than May was!! :)

From huans32 on Mon, Jun 01, 2009 at 12:20:54 from 138.64.2.76

Way to keep it nice and easy on the running. Hope your xtraining is going well also man. You will come back stronger then ever I am sure. Keep us all posted.
