OK, this weather is getting old, and I have only been back a few days. 4 miles slow outside in the snow, ice and cold, and four miles at tempo pace 6:34 on the indoor track. 32 miserable laps. The only thing worse than a 220 yard indoor track is a treadmill, and if I have to resort to that, then forget it. My trusty sportcount ring finger lap timer works good for keeping track of laps and splits, and all I have to do is try to hit 49 seconds for each lap. Thats my trusty sportcount on my finger in my picture at left in Boston in 2007. If anyone is reading... my quantcast numbers are dropping faster than the stock market... the rooster's blog must be pretty boring :-(

| 10 miles @ 7:36 with one altercation, running in North Logan on 1600 east , on the rich people bench, middle of nowhere, road wide open, no sidewalks, I am as far as i can get on the side without going into the slush, minding my own business, and some jerk driver (not a kid) in a pickup (a nice expensive one) decides to send me a message by ripping by me a few inches to my side even though the road is wide open in both directions. So I make a gesture to move out (not obscene), he stops, and then things heat up. Running deaf is hard enough without jerk drivers picking fights with you. Anyway I couldn't hear what this guy was yelling at me which is one of the frustrations of running deaf but I didn't care, I just unleashed a verbal barrage and held my ground until he drove off, up a side road to his mcmansion. I have little tolerance for these types anymore. 99% of the drivers in Logan are friendly and courteous, but the 1% can be very dangerous. I guess I could try to run with my cochlear implant in but it is not easy with slippage, sweat getting on the receiver, etc. Well, I feel bad now for losing my cool, I should have been mature enough to keep myself under control and just memorized his license plate and reported him, but since losing my hearing I get very very frustrated when running and am provoked like this. Next time I will try to keep my cool.
