OK, this weather is getting old, and I have only been back a few days.

4 miles slow outside in the snow, ice and cold, and four miles at tempo pace 6:34 on the indoor track. 32 miserable laps. The only thing worse than a 220 yard indoor track is a treadmill, and if I have to resort to that, then forget it. My trusty sportcount ring finger lap timer works good for keeping track of laps and splits, and all I have to do is try to hit 49 seconds for each lap. Thats my trusty sportcount on my finger in my picture at left in Boston in 2007. If anyone is reading... my quantcast numbers are dropping faster than the stock market... the rooster's blog must be pretty boring :-(

Do you know if the indoor track is open to alumni? Do I need an ID card or anything?

From Jon on Mon, Jan 05, 2009 at 19:52:14

Count me, quantcast!

If it makes you feel better, my number has dropped, too.

From Jon on Mon, Jan 05, 2009 at 19:52:35

By the way, what do you use the sportcount ring for in a marathon?

From redrooster on Mon, Jan 05, 2009 at 20:34:59

Jon, thanks for checking my blog and getting my numbers up. of course you can see YOUR blog is on MY favorites list...

At Boston, my GPS watch started going on the fritz (I had an old junky timex before getting my forerunner) , so I used the sportcount to get my mile splits. It didn't help me much though as the weather took me down at about mile 18, and I finished in 3:13. Next year I will slay the boston beast!!

Don't worry, all Logan runners get on my favorites list... after I run with them once. So hopefully soon.

By the way, how did you like the Bolder Boulder? I am from Colorado originally so ran that race 6 or so times.

From redrooster on Mon, Jan 05, 2009 at 22:06:11

Jon, my brother lives in Boulder so I take my family to Boulder every memorial day for the creek festival and to run the BB. I think it is a great and fun race. I always run out of the AA wave since I usually am between 38 and 39 minutes but this year finally qualified for "A" by running 38 flat, but probably won't run BB this year if I do the Ogden marathon May 16. This last year I finished 4th out of 46 year olds which I was happy with!
