Well, I was supposed to hook up in the morning with my (much younger and supposedly tougher) training mentors. But they decided the weather was too tough for them. Me, I grew up in Wisconsin and spent two years in Norway, including one year above the arctic circle, in Narvik and Tromso, where the sun doesn't rise for two and a half months and the snow is so deep the roads can look like narrow canyons with 10 foot walls of snow on either side. So nothing Utah can throw at me bothers me. OK- so I went out at 8:30 AM in blizzard like conditions. Roads were OK some places, bad others. But this is the kind of running I like. I put in 12.1 miles @ 7:37 average on my Providence-Millville-River Heights-South Logan loop. I was amazed I held that overall pace, because the two miles coming back up 100 east and Canyon road was like running on a wet ice rink- no traction, complete slush slop, I had to baby step the whole way up. Overall I was happy with the run, and glad it is over.

I love it! I am a firm believer that if more people said Yes to bad weather running we would all get that paradigm shift and just deal with it. This is the winter for me! I am going to try to keep running in all weathers by not questioning "should I run today?" when I look out the window. Thanks for sharing your inspiring run.

Cody, I see you were out there in the nine degree weather this morning which I think gives you the toughness edge... brrr... being cold-blooded I am still waiting for the thermometer to hit 25 degrees if I am lucky! Let me know if you have any runs planned this week that can help an old codger like me prepare for Ogden marathon- I am relying on you, Jon, Joe and Paul to serve as my coaches, kind of out of pity, charity and public service!! We would be happy to give pointers whenever you want. Paul has been my coach for a few years now. He helped me improve my marathon PR by an hour.

I run every morning at 6. I can meet you somewhere if you are interested.
