8 easy miles this morning with Preston and Paul. The pace was slow, but the time and miles seemed to go by very quickly. Preston did a good job setting the pace and so far I'm still felling pretty good. Kym and I are going on a bike ride this afternoon and maybe a visit to the Y tonight for a workout and some time in the hot tub. Kym just got a new tri-bike and this will be the inaugural ride of "white lightning". I hope I can keep up on my clunky urban assault bicycle :)

I 100% expected to see an avg pace of maybe 7:45 and you trying to pass it off as slow. So, I am very proud of your run! You survived and it only took 8 minutes or so longer than normal!!! Glad you are still feeling good and I hope it stays that way.

Kelli - It's better than last week, but still not perfect so I'm resting tomorrow and going back to the REX machine on Sunday. I'll probably try to run some more next week, but nothing over 10 and focus mainly on cardio with REX. I remembered that I wore my HRM in the Portland marathon and looked up my pace and avg.HR - 8:52/182(I am a data geek and keep track of all that stuff), Today my HR was 158. I'm going to start wearing the HRM on REX and try to avg. in the 160's for 80 minutes and at least once in the 170's for 2+ hours sometime next week instead of trying to get in another long run before the race.

Being a data geek comes in handy!!! That information will be useful. I wonder how much harder you will have to work to get the heart rate up there on that mission. I am sure everyone at the gym LOVES watching you cruise on that machine for hours.

I have not posted on my blog yet, but Scott strained his SI joint in his hip lifting weights Wednesday (he did not dare to confess how it did it since he is not supposed to be lifting, darn fool). Anyway, he was going to not run the marathon tomorrow, but the PT today told him that it will not injure the joint anymore (although it will hurt like heck) so he is going to run it in pain. At this point, he is still walking funny and groaning about it. Silly man, how is he going to run? He says, "Mind over matter." It is a bummer because the weather is supposed to be overcast and very cool and he was feeling great---we were hoping it would be his day. Such a bummer. I do not know if it is just that I am paying attention more than I used to, but everyone seems to be getting hurt. FRUSTRATING!!! Another marathon bites the dust.

Kelli - I'm feeling better than I did after my 4 miler last Friday, but that's not saying much :) I may run a bit in the morning just to see what my heart rate is at marathon pace, but I'll be spending the next week with the REX machine and then resting up before the race. I think my leg will be fine if I go easy on it for another week or so. It sounds like you had an awesome day!! I was really hoping that Scott would pull off that BQ today. He still did great with a new PR though! I hope he is feeling better soon. I'm expecting to see you both running in Boston next year :)
