I never thought socks could be such a big deal. I tried some Under Armor socks today and they were just OK. The Brooks Beast socks I wore yesterday were much better. So far it's between those and the Drymax which cost twice as much. I'll probably stock up on the Brooks since they have an outlet store nearby. Today's run was good although a little slower than yesterday. Eventually I think I should start watching my pace closer, but for now I'm still going by feel.

Hey, if they cost more and they work, they are worth it!!!

I think the Brooks Beast are just as good as the Drymax and they're only $5.

Now I need something for arch pain. I think I must have tweaked something in my foot trying to keep the pressure off my toe. It doesn't hurt to run, but it is pretty bad when walking. I know that sounds weird, but it was sore yesterday afternoon and didn't bother me at all for 10 miles this morning and now it hurts to walk again. If it doesn't improve tomorrow I may take a couple days off. Or I guess I could just stop walking and run everywhere :)

Okay, I see now. I read that wrong. Go with the cheaper socks, stock up!!!

Guess what? I have the same issues with my arches. I have decided it is becasue my running shoes have pretty good arch support (I buy insoles made for people with high arches like me). However, the rest of my shoes do not (flip flops and slip ons, and barefoot are my preference). I think that is why my arch tends to hurt when I am not running.

However, I did hurt my arch during the Moab half, and I think that was because was cheap and did not replace my insoles with those shoes. The insoles were wearing out and not supporting my arches.

Do you think any of that blabber might solve your arch problem?

I'm going to try some superfeet insoles that Kym won at a race to see if that helps and I'm also going to try some stability shoes next time. The ones I've been wearing are neutral and my feet pronate a little bit from having a low arch, or so I am told. I had my stride analyzed on a video treadmill thing and that's what they said I needed.
