The race was basically a repeat of last month's 15k, only a little longer and a little slower. I ran the first half into the wind with a group of about 8 runners. At the turnaround they all kept going on the miles course and the wind changed direction with me. I was all alone except for my friend the headwind for the rest of the race. #6 guy was about 4 minutes in front of me and #8 guy was almost 2 minutes behind. I kept up an honest effort, but there wasn't a lot of incentive to really push myself being all alone like that. I finished about a minute short of last year's time with an 8 second negative split. The highlight of the race was hearing the kids cheer for me as I finished up the last quarter on the track. Go Grampa Go!

Good job keeping a smart, safe pace. And you got a 2nd in age division for it, too. How did you end up for the series?

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sat, Mar 24, 2012 at 17:00:24 from 174.253.217.27

I should be first in the series for my AG. Hopefully Preston will be able to pick up my ribbon for me. I think he's planning to run the rescheduled 10k. How about you?

It doesn't seem right...looking at your split times and hearing you say your grand kids were yelling at you....:-) You're amazing fast for a Grandpa...!!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sat, Mar 24, 2012 at 22:07:14 from 174.253.217.27

IJR - I started young, at 19. In just a couple more years our youngest should be on his own and Kym and I will be empty nesters yahoo!

Not likely I'll do the 10k, but when is it?

From Burt on Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 00:04:16 from 72.223.93.158

My smile was bigger before I realized it was your grandkids and not some random kids saying, "Go Grampa Go!"

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 09:09:35 from 98.247.27.122

Thanks Teena.

Scott - The 10k is on 4/22

Burt - I haven't had any random kids call me grandpa yet :)

Yeah, I won't be running it the week before the marathon. I'll be busy that weekend anyway. Oh well, there's always next year. I really missed doing the series this year. Was Carl there? Sounds like Preston made a few of the races?

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 12:21:24 from 174.253.199.145

I don't think Preston has raced since Portland.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 18:12:12 from 174.253.199.145

Carl hasn't been at the series this year either. I haven't seen him since we ran the Enchantments in October.

Running and I broke up LOL

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Mar 26, 2012 at 17:13:26 from 24.18.125.122

You broke up with running?! ...I wasn't there, but I know it was all your fault. Running would never let you down. You should apologize and go back to running. It will forgive you. You know you miss it... :)

From april27 on Mon, Mar 26, 2012 at 21:13:38 from 99.188.251.180

I will run one mile tomorrow
