Went 35 minutes on my eliptical glider and strength trained my abs and stretched for about 10 minutes. Will run tomorrow 5 miles at a lite pace.

Good idea.

Sasha, what is the best way to train on a dailey basis, I know I can do 5 miles a day but then when Saturday comes what is the general rule to I duble that amount or just saty with 5 miles.

Thanks for all your good advise.

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, Oct 12, 2006 at 12:38:30

5 miles a day with 10 on Saturday is a good idea. Get used to that, and gradually increase the length of every run, but only do so if you are handling the training volume well. Race 5 Ks frequently to keep track of your speed.

How soon do I increase my mileage? Does that increase include the weekly runs or just on Saturday? How much should I increase when I feel that my body is ready for more. Is it okay to run hills more than 2 times per week or do I keep it more easy and work on speed on the off days.

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get stronger and faster, but I also want to do it the right way.

Thanks again.

Increase it when your body feels ready. It is a good idea to give yourself 3 weeks before increasing it again just to make sure your body is handling the new load well. Probably a good rule for you at this point is to add a mile a day when increasing.
