Just a quick note about the race and it was a tough race, rainy and windy and one for the books... I feel pretty good about my time considering the conditions and I felt better towards the end of the race, well I wouldn't say better but my splits were better but I was feeling it. I'll give my splits tomorrow when I get home, but for right now I just want to dry off and get warm and spend some time with the family... I'm not sure of my overall Place or division, but I will find out out later I guess.

See ya tomorrow.

Asic 2130 Blue ()

PM Sunday.

Now that I have had a chance to think about things, I feel very good about the effort, one bad thing is I lost all my splits because my Garmin 305 got water in it so when we got home today I tried to dry it out and now it is fried! I thought those darn things were water proof but apparently not... My splits towards the end of the race were pretty darn good considering I was tired and the conditions were horrible, I wish I had them, oh well sometimes life is not very fair:-) But it gives me hope for the future to some day get it under 3 hours, but I have alot of work to do in the mean time and I think right now I need to get healthy so I can get to where I wast to be:-) So with that said, I will be taking some time off now to really get healthy basically my hip and foot, which I haven't been complaining about (the foot) and just let my body heal up. I agree with some of the other runners that SG really beats you up, and I will have to re-evaluate if I will run it again, I probably will but I will have to see...

Congratultions on your finish! It sounds like the elements were against the runner today :) Great job!!!

From allie on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 14:17:15

congrats on a good finish in tough conditions. i was hoping the storm would hold off for the race...but these things can't be controlled. it will only make you stronger for your next one, though. way to go!!!

From Lucia on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 14:25:57

Congratulations on the race!

From Kelsey on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 14:35:03

Great job! That's a PR, right?

From fogelberg on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 15:19:57

Way to go, Bro. That is a great time and I am proud of you.

Congratulations on surviving St George 2008 (the typhoon) and look forward to seeing your splits.

From jona on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 18:34:55

Congratulations on your race. I can remember being worried for you a few weeks ago, thinking you were having all those problems. I'm glad you made it, and you had a good showing. Is that a PR?

From Superfly on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 19:07:04

It looks like you had a really good race with the conditions. Sorry I missed you down here this time. Hope you have a good "rest of the trip". What a day is about the best way to sum it up.

We will look back with some memories from today.

From Tom on Sat, Oct 04, 2008 at 23:48:17

Great job Clay on the huge PR!. This is super especially considering the nasty headwind conditions.

From dave holt on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 01:33:59

Good job Clay.

From Kim on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 10:54:16

That was definitely a race for the books! I'm glad you were able to get through all the injury healing and make it through this race! Enjoy the family!

From James W on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 12:07:03

Congratulations on a great race! Wish I could have gotten to meet you, everyone made a lot of memories yesterday with the weather we had. This is a huge PR, right?

From Clay on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 12:17:23

Thanks everyone and yes this is a pretty good PR for me but I need to but this into context; I haven't run a marathon in over 2 years because of injury, so I had no where to go but down but I will take it anyway considering the tough conditions...

It makes me want to work a little harder and do even better next time, but I need to take some time off and let everything heal up, mainly my hip and my foot very beat up:-(

From Mike Warren on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 13:57:00

Clay, a PR in those conditions is simply awesome. It will make your next one that much better and easier. Get yourself healed up and then time to go again. Nice job!

From MichelleL on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 18:45:59

Great job Clay! I hope your body isn't beaten up too bad. See ya on the road.

From kellies on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 19:31:30

Way to go Clay. I am proud of you for fighting through the aches and pains and for allowing your body to recover too. Keep up the good work. Hope to see you at SG in the future. :)

From Andy on Sun, Oct 05, 2008 at 23:16:55

Nice job Clay. I'm really glad to see you did so well and have been able to overcome your injuries.

From JeffC on Mon, Oct 06, 2008 at 01:10:06

Great run Clay. You really ran a fast race for the conditions, your injuries and your "supposed" lack of fitness. Can't wait to see what you can do when you are fully healthy and fully trained.

From josse on Mon, Oct 06, 2008 at 22:37:04

Great job on a very tough day!!

From Brent on Wed, Oct 08, 2008 at 13:27:15

Clay, 1,000 commando points for the marathon PR and the comeback from injury. It seems you really had a good day on a bad day.
