Easy recovery run today... My shin and calf where really giving me problems this morning, very painful.  After about 2 miles the pain started to subside but it was still there, I will just have to get through those first couple of miles tomorrow and then hopefully I will be able to do it and finish strong. Not much else to say except I will be up early tomorrow for the Provo Riverwoods Half Marathon, so I will see how that goes... Average pace today was 9:00, total time was 45:24, my heart rate average was 139.

Good luck, Clay. Wish I could be there for the 1/2. I will have to settle for my long run tomorrow. You may want to wear the compression wrap for the 1/2 to provide some extra support. Anything else you can notice that may have changed? Stride, pace, sudden increase in mileage? One pair of shoes feel different than the other?

Good luck tomorrow. I hope your shin splints start feeling better. Mine got so bad last year it hurt to even walk. After SGM last year I took it easy for a few weeks and they seemed to get better. I tried a few things during that time that seemed to help a little. Rest, ice, compression, more rest, all easy running (no speed or hills), lots of stretching. I also use a roller almost every night, it's hard to explain but here is the web address for the product: www.tptherapy.com. I use the footballer kit with the block. I also take the roller and roll it (firmly) down the inside of my shins (ouuuuuch), when I first started using this product with bad shin splints it hurt like heck, but it seemed to loosen the muscles and break up the lactic acid. It's a bit pricey but I highly recommend it or something similar. I should have told you about it the other day when we ran but I take if for granted now because my shins don't even bother me anymore. This is coming from the kid who had shin splints every day of high school cross country and track seasons. Good luck, let me know if you have any questions. You have my email and cell so don't hesitate to contact me.
