Short-Term Running Goals: Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal. It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :) I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!
Long-Term Running Goals:
Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.
Run for the rest of my life!
Personal: 4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!
Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free! I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front. After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Back to the regular routine. I did notice despite no eating changes that my body lost a couple pounds last week simply changing the routine. That is always welcome! 7.0 on the TM @ 8:30AP it was unfortunately a lot harder than I remember. I got through it all the same. FIT class for 45 min, great stability work on the bosu! Plus today she added arms, I was SO sad to have to leave 10 min early because of day care :)

Sandra canceled on me this morning, but I didn't know until I was ready and went downstairs to grab my phone. It was a good thing too, because I probably would've slept in and not gotten out to run if I hadn't already been ready. Garmin wasn't charged, so I only got 1.63 miles out of it before it died, but my AP to that point was an 8:46 so my guesstimate of a 9mm is probably pretty good for the run. I'm going just off elapsed time from when I left home - and the 8:46 was a nice easy downhill mile. The nicest thing is I was able to run a longer course that I normally don't get to do in the morning and the uphill portions didn't seem as hard as they usually do. That is always a nice feeling! I did my 7 mile loop past the Rec center and cemetery, I could see all the suckers inside the Rec center running on the TM and I laughed at them :) SO nice to be outside! When I got home I grabbed Lucy and took her out for another 2 mile tried and true loop (with no garmin I had to stick to well known routes, with Lucy sometimes I like to 'wander' through the 'hood). It was a pleasant morning run and I'm glad I was able to get up and out and get my run in, despite having no company. Now I'm off to boot camp for a little x-training before the day starts. We'll see what fun torture devices she has for us this morning! :) Boot camp was crazy! You wouldn't think an empty cardboard tube could cause so much pain!!

Easy eight out and about by my lonesome early this morning. Didn't really want to get up early, but knew I'd regret it if I didn't. First six miles on the Rosecrest up route through the cove, then home and the last 2 with lazy Lucy. AP: 8:50 splits: 8:55, 8:40, 9:26, 9:15, 8:59, 8:16, 8:31, 8:39 and finished at a 6:23 for the 50 feet over 8 miles I ran :)
Now I'm off to spend the day sitting in the lodge at Brighton with baby while the kids take their ski lesson. Fun times!

Had a good case of lead legs today. Man alive! Between that and the wind (not to mention my bad attitude and getting ditched by Sandra again) I knew it was going to be a slow one and I didn't disappoint. Did my regular 7 mile loop then came back for Lucy and finished another 2 around the 'hood. AP: 9:18 splits: 9:18, 8:53, 8:54, 9:16, 9:42, 9:45, 9:38, 9:19, 8:56. Now I'm off to yoga and hopefully working out some residual soreness in the quad and ditching these lead legs. Maybe a nap too if I'm lucky - 3rd day in a row of early running has made me tired and ornery! I don't know how y'all do it every morning. On my way out of yoga this morning, a pilates instructor was starting a 20 min free preview class. They use the 'free-board' machine things (and they cost extra too!), but holy moly was that a good core workout. I can hardly image 60 minutes of it! I think it would be an amazing x-trainer, especially for me with my weak ol' core. I have some 'free' $ to spend at the gym as my sign up incentive, so I may have to put it to use with this class!

| | The good thing about snow in April: it doesn't stick to the ground, it is warm enough you don't have to wear 10 extra layers, if you get thirsty you can just stick your tongue out for a few seconds and refresh! The bad thing about snow in April: IT'S APRIL!!!! GIVE ME SUN!!! Uggghhh, another cold, snowy early morning run; however, I will say that it was quite enjoyable. The wind wasn't bad at all and besides getting pelted in the eyes a few times with flakes the snow didn't bother me too much - nice and softly falling. The plan was to run 4 miles before meeting at 6:30, but I didn't get moving fast enough this morning so I only had time for 2.75 and it was a lot darker than I thought it would be. Thank goodness I know the Lehi JRP like the back of my hand - and no creepy people were out this morning. As I came back I saw Smooth, Chad and Maynard and then who should appear? LUZ! I didn't think I'd see her after her full just a couple weeks ago, but she came back for another round with us :) The company was amazing and all around wonderful, I seriously don't know how I would run without wonderful people around me to chat with. Poor Maynard got to listen to me ramble on about my amusing 3 year old's antics for a few good miles, until he had to duck out to a 'green house' and finally dropped me and my pestering stories :) Just always remember - if you run with me: beware, I WILL talk your ear off. Got back to the car and with a load of new info about how to keep myself healthy through this grand slam season (thank you Luz and your plethora of unending information!) and with only 2.75 miles to finish up. Smooth and I quickly took off North for a few loops around the park for her to finish her 13 as well. I only had a short out and back on the Southward trail when we got back. Seventeen - ahhhh! I really felt good this run and the company kept my mind off of any little aches and pains (only felt my quad once for a bit). Honestly, the quad feels better now than it did Thursday...strange, I know. But, I'm thinking that it may be my x-training with squats and lunges etc that is adding the extra strain on it. Who knows, I'll have some good answers Tuesday. Thanks to everyone who made this another wonderful, memorable run for me! I don't know if it's the parkway down there I love, or all the peeps I get to run with there!! Now, it's off to surfing and dipping for a fabulous anniversary celebration (belated...it was last month)! AP: 8:45 splits: 8:47, 8:17, 8:15, 9:02, 8:57, 8:53, 8:46, 8:56, 8:45, 8:46, 8:44, 8:55, 9:08, 8:43, 8:49, 8:48, 8:24 (finish strong!), 7:07 for the last recorded 85 feet over 17 :)
