Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Sandra canceled on me this morning, but I didn't know until I was ready and went downstairs to grab my phone. It was a good thing too, because I probably would've slept in and not gotten out to run if I hadn't already been ready.

Garmin wasn't charged, so I only got  1.63 miles out of it before it died, but my AP to that point was an 8:46 so my guesstimate of a 9mm is probably pretty good for the run. I'm going just off elapsed time from when I left home - and the 8:46 was a nice easy downhill mile. The nicest thing is I was able to run a longer course that I normally don't get to do in the morning and the uphill portions didn't seem as hard as they usually do. That is always a nice feeling!

I did my 7 mile loop past the Rec center and cemetery, I could see all the suckers inside the Rec center running on the TM and I laughed at them :) SO nice to be outside!

When I got home I grabbed Lucy and took her out for another 2 mile tried and true loop (with no garmin I had to stick to well known routes, with Lucy sometimes I like to 'wander' through the 'hood).

It was a pleasant morning run and I'm glad I was able to get up and out and get my run in, despite having no company. Now I'm off to boot camp for a little x-training before the day starts. We'll see what fun torture devices she has for us this morning! :)

Boot camp was crazy! You wouldn't think an empty cardboard tube could cause so much pain!!

I like running with people, but really the best thing about it is that it gets me up and out the door. So you got that part anyway. It sounds like it ended up to be a great run.

Carolyn, you're right! Honestly that is why I leave my phone downstairs. Then I don't know until it's too late anyway :)

Cal, you just gotta bring that up! :) I have actually been having issues with the docking station, it doesn't like to connect and stay connected. Lucy was dragging this morning - poor girl needs to get out more.

Nice run!!! I'm so over the treadmill. I'm only going to use it sparingly from now on.

Devine Miss M - sucker born everyday - enjoy nature, only way to go. I am impressed with your consistency over the last several months, especially doing the core classes, very nice.

I'm glad you had so much fun with an empty tube.

OH, that boot camp sounds fun!

I was one of those suckers on the treadmill....but until many hours later. It is blasted hot in that rec center I am tempted to cancel my membership. i am dripping sweat before I even hit a mile. It is at least 80.

I've always thought they should keep the thermostat around 60 in gyms.

From Kelli on Wed, Apr 06, 2011 at 10:15:44 from 71.219.97.85

I AGREE! The say that when a class is going on in the aerobics or spinning room, it forces hot air out into the treadmill area. I think that is crap. It is a massive rec center, there had to be more thought that went into the cooling system than that! AND there are classes all morning and evening, so it will always be a problem. I don't buy it.

Hum, I just happen to have several hats with battery powered little fans for sale. Three installments of $19.99 would get you one of the beauties. No doubt, gyms generally suck in one way or another.

Also, for another $19.99 you can have a little whine with your cheese.

It is good that the good weather is coming. By the way, you ladies are tough as nails, nothing really bothers you touch chickas.

HEAT bothers me!!! However, they finally admitted today that the AC does not work (nice of them to be honest) but that it will be up and running in a few weeks. AND they are buying floor fans. By then I will be outside most of the time!

My gym was so great (aside from broken machines). This rec center is not so great!

I LOVE TO WHINE, and nothing gets me whining more than extreme temperatures, up or down! I am a woman, never satisfied. ;o) Maybe I need one of those hats!
